Went to school there in the early 60s Jennings st used to get the school bus from Park North. Won a medal for table tennis in Swindon local league in the 60s still have it. First job was working in Garrards who made record players I had to test them to make sure they were working OK. Life time ago. Left Swindon to go up to London and became part of the swinging 60s. Married a Playboy Bunny at nineteen and still married forty five years later. I enjoyed my time living in Swindon, walking to Westcotte to get the shopping as there was no shops in Park North at that time only a little hut around the back of what was called Langs. Is it still called that today ?

Kate Wild Older people know it as Laings , no idea if the kids now still call it that.

@@ShireWitch I wouldn't think so. It was known as Laing's Canteen, as was the bus stop there.

I lived in Park South and remember Laing's Canteen bus stop, my late mother used to work at Garrards and I went to Westcott secondary school in 1962.

Seeing this as someone born in 2000, it’s sad that most of the centre was bulldozed for the damn Brunel, always wondered why we look so different to other towns/cities despite our age :(
