In this video, I analyze the swings of Juan Soto, Carlos Pena, Joe Dimaggio, Paul Molitor, Kyle Tucker. I talk about how not overexerting the back arm is really what a great swing is all about. I also talk about the casting move and how it's not only not detrimental, but it is actually a move that we often see in the best P4P hitters.

After watching this channel for 2 years, and then going back and looking at lots of swings on KZbin, I am starting to understand more and more about the proper swing.

Great video. Is the swing position where the back arm elbow is in front of back hand a potential concern in the lead arm dominant swing? Most traditional swing instruction discourages it.

It’s not a big concern to me. It can be a form of back arm exertion however, so sometimes I may want to work on the elbow dropping down to the side more. I know conventional instruction is so quick to point it out. They think it’s a death move.

Hey Jaime Cevallos, I have this problem that as I’m loading and moving forward my hands and back elbow drop making it tough to reach high pitches. No high tee drills really help. I noticed that I keep a lot of weight in my back leg as I go forward and my head moves down a lot. Any advice would be nice.

Great stuff as usual Jamie Soto: yeah I agree he really looks like he’s leaning back but he’s so connected at contact is kinda washes out. I think he’s swinging slight up through the ball too Peña: I don’t really see how he’s similar to Soto in set up or really in his swing except at one point; ;before the bat gets in the zone Dimaggio: that’s my second favorite hitter to watch besides Ted Williams from that time period. He had such little movement but had so much power-more than molitar and I think it’s because he got more body rotation in his hits. Molitar: like a scale down version of joe d. It’s like he had a two stroke approach as his basic wing. Worked for him because he had decent power with good contact- but I think he could have gotten more out of his swing too which is why I asked for the comparison Tucker This is the guy most ppl when they see my swing compare me too which is kinda funny to me because I based my swing on another lefty similar to him lol. That first camera shot of Tucker that you put up really didn’t see how the bat flatten as the start of the forward swing. Interesting angle I don’t see that angle a lot. Great point of how he’s sometimes isn’t as connect at contact like other times. I’d have to look at his number to see if there are correlations. Great work once again Jamie and thanks for the shout out l 😉

I wonder what goes through alex bregman's head when he sees tucker crushing in average and power.

He’ll see it through the preconceived lens he has developed on the swing. He’ll chalk up Tuckers success to “decelerating really well” or some other made up falsity. He won’t change the axioms he views the swing through unless directly confronted with overwhelming evidence.

I don't know really how your model is that different than conventional swings, can you mention a model that you are that different than? If I had to give a model it would be Charlie Lau's hitting instructions from the 80's and 90's.
