Heard this song in a pub for the first time tonight and was totally won over. Your version is every bit as nice.

You are such a good musician. What i like most is truth in music. You mean every sound. I also hear inaccuracies here and there, but they do not matter because there is meaning and truth in the whole. That whole takes me to music-world you give me, and for that, i thank you.

Thank you very much for the kind words :). Most of the videos here are just done in one take, so there will almost certainly be mistakes, but I'm glad the energy and message comes across :)
@daniellorca44522 жыл бұрын
@@SimonRobinsonSounds it is not right to judge music by inaccuracies (not the same as mistakes): music is intention that transports to a place where the listener was not, and you do that. Thank you.

Wow! What a great sound. One song by Jean Ritchie that I really like to play is Hangman, sounds pretty good in GCGCD clawhammer

This rules. Stellar banjo playing, sweet singing, gorgeous setting. Gonna have to try and make sense of that banjo tuning. I guess it facilitates playing in... F... without departing too far from standard G?
@FVmike Жыл бұрын
It might be standard G but with the 5th string on f, perhaps with B tuned up to C?

Absolutely love this!! Starting to learn banjo and really want to play this for my girlfriend eventually. Do you have the tabs written down anywhere I could pay to see?
@SimonRobinsonSounds2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, if you drop me a message via my website, www.simonrobinsonsounds.co.uk, I can send you the tab over for it :)

Sounds really cool. Its a special tuning with a f at the 5th. Has it got a name, that tuning?
@SimonRobinsonSounds5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it has a specific name? Anyone else know? Looking on the Zepp site refers to it as a G modal tuning - zeppmusic.com/banjo/aktuning.htm The shapes mean you play in F, but you can get to G capoing up 2 frets

Simon Robinson Sounds I somehow missed your awnser, see it now. Thanks, i will try to work it out 😎

Simon Robinson Sounds BTW, just realized that G Modal is the same as Sawmill and Mountain Minor. Well, i knew i think i just diddent realized... 🤨🧐🤓😁

Are your frets all angled or is that a strange optical illusion?
@ClarkMitchell20124 жыл бұрын
They are angled outwards from the center of the neck. Fanned frets are meant to allow for better intonation for lower tunings on the lower strings.
@oliverbradley87554 жыл бұрын
@@ClarkMitchell2012 Thanks - I have never seen that before. Interesting concept.
