Thanks. I never played a steel guitar before. I just built one out of an old wooden fiddle case. I looked up string gauges and tunings, I hit on the C6 and I realized that I’ve heard that sound a million times. I’ve got many miles to go . Thanks for setting me on the path.

Im glad you mentioned wayne hancock at the end. His music and Hank senior and 3 inspired me to play.

Hi Troy, just wanted to thank you for all the great information you are putting out on this instrument. I'm a classical guitarist, performer, and teacher. A retired gentleman down the street from me wanted to learn how to play the lapsteel guitar because he has arthritis in his hands and can not fret a regular guitar. I knew nothing about this instrument!! But as a friend I said he and we would learn together!! He got a used Gretch Lapsteel in C6 tuning and we started lessons 3 weeks ago. haha it has been an adventure for both of us. I am learning to love this instrument....just need to figure out how to play songs on it :) That will come in time. Your videos are a tremendous help. Who knows...I may start playing gigs with this thing someday...haha I'm still getting used to only using my P, I and M fingers...what happened to A ?? :) (thumb, index, middle and 3rd finger) Keep up the great work...I'll keep you posted on our progress!!

@@larrylawrence5181 I'm on a low salt diet. Don't much care for Chinese food. Can't trust a culture w/out cheese. It's cool I'm back on the regular sixer right now... Get frustrated and go back to regular guitar till I get bored of it. Then a wild hair for some steel bars and slip n slides.

Troy, what size strings do you use for the c6 tuning ?
@flgator3112 жыл бұрын
What kind of tape are you using to mark your frets? Is this notation on both sides and is it only really necessary and beneficial to be on the side of the player? Thank you

That is an 8 string guitar? What happened to the 6 string guitar????
@kentonhammond89382 жыл бұрын
6 strings are hard enough, u should teach with that vs an 8 string. Being a Blues man I'd like to hear just a little overdrive grind on the lap steel to make it sound a tad less country since it is a 12 bar blues, but that's just me. Great lesson.

I think I go slow enough and over the same things repeatedly that you should not have trouble following along in this lesson.
