They're slaughterin' cattle! Yes indeedy! This was my first Rock song ever, I danced to it when I was one years old! I still love rock 'n roll, to this very day! I have gone from the Founder, Bill Haley, to Elvis, To Chuck, to Buddy, to The Beatles, to The Who, to Hendrix, to Bowie, to the Ramones, to Nirvana, to Bad Religion, and so on, and so forth. I have been alive about as long as Rock 'n Roll, and I will always love it with all my heart! I promise! Crazy, man, crazy!

To RockingJamboree1: in your business you brought a lot of joy to people, and that's wonderful. And your comments about swing and swing dancing weren't inaccurate, they just needed elucidation: the other commentator was right in saying that 50s rock and swing were alike and the dancing done to both was almost the same (but of course you're too young to really remember swing music.)

eloim49: I fully agree with you but the difference is that it is sweet memories from my YOUTH days, the days when I was in my junior and high school years when fantastic and lively rock and roll musics were our musics of the era but have become a kind of nostalgia now!

I think the guy on the right in the opening scenes was on a couple of old Andy Griffith shows. He played the band leader of the band called "Freddie Fleet and his band with a Beat". Also on the show was a very young guitar player who later played the sheriff on "Duke's of Hazzard".

You have a semi-acoustic guitar, an early electric guitar, a synthesizer (electric keyboard), a saxophone, and a double bass. That was all they needed--plus practice--to play this song!

These people had the moves, especially that dude at 3.04 - 06.This is awesome!
Pity the clip finished before we saw the look on Bill Haley's face when he was asked the name of the "Orrchestra", be worth a million dollars I reckon. Gary

Great dancing. I love how free they are to mix different styles of swing together as cu018467 observes. I also like the real rhythmic pulse they put into their dancing. That's one thing that I do that kind of makes me unique among dancers today, but it's so fun. And yes, long live the lindy hop!
@JMK199814 жыл бұрын
@leggs1964 You are bang on, growing up in this era was a blessing to me, I wouldn't change it for youth again. It was a feeling and a state of mind that cannot be explained, you just had to live it. I couldn't agree with you more, lots of rubbish out there today.

Billy Haley&The Comets are often credited with the beginnings of Rock&Roll. That is debateable but their record "Rock Around The Clock" certainly put a label on it and shortly thereafter Allen Freed coined the phrase Rock&Roll. One thing is not argued and that is the record Rock Around the Clock is the biggest all time single pop hit seller with 23 million copies sold since the song was released in 1955. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

Rock Around The Clock was the first pure Rock'n'Roll record. All before were R'n'B, Blues, Hillbilly, Western Swing etc.

i agree with you, although i love this style of music, i completely love Bill Haley and the Comets. their music is fantastic. i agree when you say you wouldn't go to that era because of racist attitudes. i live in tasmania, and aboriginies here are treated no differently, racist attutudes are condemned down here. but that doesn't stop people making inpolite comments!

I could do that move 15 years ago (and so could Marcus Koch from Germany) and u need VERY flexible legs...believe me. Then you get older and less flexible and "memories are made of this". The dancers did not drink at all..just like today. That is the reason why we are not populair around places as we only drink water...and you cannot make both ends meet that way. I still love dancing.
