Wow. It's actually impressive how far you managed to miss the mark with that post. What you just witnessed was art in it's purest form. Two of the best ARTists in their field, interpreting an unknown song together, connecting with each other, the music, and the audience at the same time. Not sure who rejected you in this community before, but we are a pretty open community. I mean, there were almost 2000 "friends" in that room. Doesn't seem too closed off to me. You need a hug.

My two favorite dancers!! That was really great and I always enjoy how these two connect in their dancing, especially with each other! The fluidity and continuity of their dancing is just amazing...it is such a beautiful thing and I am just happy to have eyes to see this....very inspiring!

Yup. They can dance. Might not be the best example of "truthful, emotional moments" but they do have rhythm. You know the people in this video are also real people right? Don't forget that your original post deeply insulted two people (dear friends of mine) who I'm assuming you don't know. You're aware that's not ok, right?

Part of west coast swing is playing with the music, and thats what they were doing.. They kept timing they did some of the basics, and they had fun and performed. I am pretty sure that what dancing and west coast is about. And as they are some of the top pros I think they would know what swing is

I think a lot of clowns just watch these videos and don't realize that it's a fully improvised dance. :) This is probably my favourite Strictly Swing I've ever seen!!! Probably watched it 50 times wondering how the hell they do all that crazy stuff totally off the cuff!!

Slow song that's why, swing has evolved some I like some I do not but I can assure you they have not lost the sense of what swing is. Stay cool.

Speaking of work I have an exercise for you. Why don't you go in pairs to a high school and perform. I'd say Oakland High or a school in the Bronx no suburbia. Somewhere that you don't have your mobile support group to clap for you. For sure they will start booing, shit before you even start just being white will get them against you. And then lets see you turn that around. Solo work also not just partnering. That will let you know who you are real fast. Thats how I cut my teeth. Good luck.

Oblivious. I am a little perturbed that you have a stick so far up in it that you used a pretentious word like perturbed. Maybe getting a little less rigid, and a little more loose would help your flow. Your narrow view of art and obviously the place it comes from, its history, and even understanding what I was saying is being influenced by your tight frozen vibe. But you are here to cheerlead not to understand art or dance.

THAT was amazing. To be honest, most of Benji's routines - utterly amazing as they are - haven't been to my taste, but seeing him improvise like this totally blew me away. I love seeing something in a new light! (...or, in this case, someone!) Tatianana is absolutely incredible as well; her following and what she is able to add and inspire in this dance is a lesson for all of us. Thanks so much for posting!

I apologize profusely if my use of the word perturbed offended you in anyway. In speaking of being pretentious it appears you fancy yourself quite the art critic. The only person here that appears tightly wound up happens to be you or haven't you notice that you continue to make assumptions about people with whom you have no connection. As for me "cheer-leading" as you so cheerfully put it; I came here to watch two people express themselves and their interpretation of the music through dance.

imagine if you were to dance west coast like you were an actual dancer. You know not staring off at the audience pretentiously self aware and actually be fully into the music. Imagine if a stage actor just started saying the most potent part of his dialogue while staring at the audience. They would be laughed at. Its funny what you can get away with when your audience is full of your friends from a style that is closed off from other social circles. ART hates that by the way.

I am a little perturbed by the fact that you feel that art has the propensity to "hate". However, far more perturbed or annoyed rather that you have felt yourself fit to speak on the behalf of art.

I seem unable to reply to 'The One' due to some KZbin bug so will have to leave an open comment... Not sure what your background is - I assume some form of contemporary, solo style? (This is purely based on your derogatory comments towards partnered styles). On this, what you have to remember is that whist your ideas of control and expression are purely expressed through the connection of the brain to the limb in solo styles, here, all those thoughts and impulses have to be communicated through a tiny surface area of connection between two people. One sending a lead signal, the other receiving, translating (decoding) and responding in either a direct or indirect manner - all in an instant. The beauty of this connection is displayed in the complex manner of these dancers' movements. The 'messages' transmitted from one to the other are simply of a higher order than that of basic swing moves, thus why it takes on an almost unrecognisable form. In my opinion I think you may have missed the point of this video. I don't think Ben and Tat are trying to fundamentally change our understanding of modern dance, I think it was simply a fun, very skilful and entertaining show of improvisation to more unorthodox, complex music. If you want to judge them then maybe take on some of their choreographed performances: Tatiana (with Jordan): kzbin.info/www/bejne/raC1lI2NoJWbr8U Benji (with Torri) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKPHqql3pbx1b5I Or to be honest just KZbin any of their routines! ^_^ Either way I don't see the point of finding one of these videos just to try and criticise - it doesn't make you a better dancer and it insults the people who enjoy watching these videos. All the best. Lee. PS: For the record, my background: Ballroom, Latin American, Disco Freestyle, Street Dance, Modern Jive and Aerials (Airsteps), a tiny bit of many other styles and an Open Mind ;)

Too much contortionism. They can dance so why don't they? They have lost the sense of what swing is...they are not swinging.
