Is it necessary for ADX to be above 30 when price touches the EMA20? Asking because when price retraces to EMA20, ADX also goes down n may also go below 30. In that case what should we do?

In low trending phases, you can keep ADX criteria as 25. This way, you will still be able to take the trade. Hope this helps.

What program is using candle volume charts? I know all programs have candlesticks and "volume sticks" but the picture uses candle volume charts...as in the candlesticks thickness and length are on the chart as one chart as possible to separately below the chart. In the example above that you show ...the wide candle broke the EMA20, and went side ways & (11th day after ) it touched the 20EMA again,,,that'ss where we enter the trade on the 14th day.What about the short trades where, once the 20EMA is broken with a wide range candle...but the price doesn't come back to touch the 20day ema and keeps going down in other trading sessions ..how to enter that ?

It’s all about assessment of momentum. If momentum is high, retracement will be limited.

@@TradeWithTrend yes seems to qualify but it has been uptrend now since mar April.. It is currently at the resistance zone.. Adx is more than 30 now... N it has surpassed the entry point too.. I have doubt because it has been rising also it is just crossing the resistance zone

I have observed that certain times the candle breaks the high but closes below the entry candle and when i look for entry the next day a considerable move occurs which ruins my risk reward ratio as well as probability

Hi ST..Is it important that the decision candle wick touches the 20EMA. Just scanned some stocks that meet the criteria for ADX and some of them have crossed the 20EMA and closed below it. Do we consider such stocks or only the wick needs to touch the 20EMA...Thanks

This is a valid setup. Since short term volatility is still high in market, I would buy into this stock in Equities segment with recent Swing low as stop.

Can you please suggest the best way to back test this strategy. Here is what I am thinking in terms of steps: 1. Pick a time range - 3 to 5yrs 2. Select 10 high beta stocks >1.2 from that time range Question: Do I have to consider Market and Sector trend during the chosen time frame? 3. Plot the 20EMA and ADR on those charts 4. Mark major swings 5. Emulate a trade position - mark entry, SL, Target, with proper position sizing, risk management - Rmultiple, record each trade in my trading journal and analyse win / loss % of the strategy. Kindly advice.

Looks like a good framework to backtest. I would recommend you to include Market or Sector trend at least. Will help you filter our false trades.

Yes this does happen at times. Just wait for trailing stop to be hit if you are long in stock or future.
