Swirl Flap Delete Sprinter/ Mercedes 3.0 CRD Diesel W/O programming

Can you remove the swirl flaps? In a sprinter, Mercedes Om642 Crd common rail Nv3 …… yes on any we can bypass the flaps !! 3.0
This video I’m going to show you that I’ve deleted the swirl flaps on a Mercedes sprinter 3.0 V6 0M 642 common rail diesel and I can do it with any intake!!!!
For years I’ve had a cleaning service where people send me their dirty filthy Intakes. Some people don’t because they think they can clean them their selves…. Only to find out their vans in limp mode a week later after they’ve cleaned the air intakes… Well I eliminated that with the type of process that I used to clean my intakes and with my clayway slick spray they don’t hardly ever carbon up!!! But this was a unique opportunity where I couldn’t actually get the rods to move. So it required I’ll figure out a different way to delete this flaps but yet allow the rods to move so they can actuate the sensors…..

Swirl flaps are open after a certain RPM, I never heard of someone clogging their DPF because of them being deleted, even without a tune for it. If the engine is mechanically fine, you're creating marginally more soot at lower rpm. I have a friend with a Sprinter that deleted his flaps with the resistor dongle 250k km ago. Engine still purrs, 580k km total so far, original DPF, never cleaned.

I don’t think you can have one without the other ,history tells us that for sure. but I don’t think I should call myself a genius, I know I have in the past. Only at the moment I think that I am, which unfortunately is not as often as I would like it to be. I’m definitely crazy…. I think some of the things I do is ingenious but they get overshadowed by my incompetence. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well I think some of us definitely want to be a little bit humble there are certain things that I’ve done in my life that I am very proud of but if it wasn’t for You Tube I would’ve never done them because I would’ve never had the time to do them this particular video I feel was one of them accomplishments that to some might not be that big a deal but I thought about this for a number of years and the solution was really simple I should’ve figured it out much sooner. Some of the other things that I’ve done took a lot of time for what they accomplish and deserved the amount of time that it took me to figure them out this personally to me was probably not one of them even though I’m very proud of it

Hi Clay, I have a 2008 OM642 and everything is working fine, have you ever heard of the air needle mod for swirl flap preventative maintenance? where you puncture a basketball inflator needle through the hose on the suction side of the turbo, thena thin fuel line into the cab with a bottle of seafoam or diesel? and while cruising highway speeds you give a few squirts every once in a while? apparently if breaks down carbon over time and cleans the swirl flaps to like new condition, or so people have said. Have you heard of this?

I like your videos thanks for sharping your acknowledgment, I have that same issue with my 07 sprinter I bypass the swirl motor nothing happens still limp mode I disconnected the EGR that’s was worked for couple weeks and then limp mode again now it’s seem nothing to do expect if I can try to clean those intake might be works any suggestions let me know , again thanks hope to heard you back soon

Well I can tell you that I tried to clean them about half a dozen times and then when I put them back in it went back in limp mode two weeks later….. I strongly recommend against you trying to clean them unless you want to do this job twice let me know after you take them out if you want to do it twice…… (PS you will have absolutely no desire to do this once again unless that’s what you do for a living like me) So like I said in the video I would recommend you send them to me but you don’t have to I don’t need the extra work I’m just letting you know my experiences it took me a long time to figure out how to clean these things and not have them lock back up

Hello clay from the uk 🇬🇧 I am Woking on the same job there as we are right hand drive so on the driverside intake the last flap toward the dashboard of the van is blocked at the pin which is not allowing the rest of mechanisms to work proper now my questions the why you have done this flap delete this way you are keeping the boost motor or flap motor still working and the rest of the system is working correctly as it should where actually the air is passing through freely in the intakes correct?? Any suggestion of what I can do to it my customer wants the job done once so that I can be sure never done one before hince not sure what to do with it let me know I will really appreciate your help and time..

Well, I would say ship them over here and I will do them but that’s probably not time for that regretfully. I’m not interested in sharing my secret, so I’m sorry to say KZbin videos don’t really pay very much like 2/10 of a cent per view… and I got a family to raise if I let my secrets out that I spent years figuring out well. I wouldn’t be able to keep food on my table. Please don’t take it the wrong way I would love to tell people but it’s gotta stay a secret. Sorry. This video is your solution, also I suggest you service your injectors and replace your oil cooler seals, as that is another engine problem and the same parts must be removed, so you do all the work once

With this Delete would the effect of engine breaking also go away. I understand that engine breaking effect or Compression breaking as some call it is caused by flaps closing when not accelerating.

ok so on a 2008 dodge sprinter i removed the swirl flaps and put a diode in the plug and i still get a check engine light. with the check engine light on its in limp mode and barely gets outta its own way. i would assume the swirl valve position sensor is going to tell the computer there not moving and set a fault code.

Will this still pass emissions? Can you register it in every state? I had mine deleted a year ago now my DPF is clogged. Not sure if it was form this or was already clogging. has 224k miles.

Yes. According to past experience. Well, if it’s been deleted, it’s not gonna ever pass emissions no matter what you do to it unless you bring it back to factory so I kind of retract that it will it will if you only delete the Intakes, it will pass emissions but if you delete the Intakes and gut out the exhaust, it will never pass

I'm not sure how to react to this video. I was hoping to learn something but all that I learned is that you can clean the manifolds some how. There is a video posted by a chemist who shows you the results of using different cleaners and the affect they have of carbon deposits. As far as deleting the swirl flaps (butterfly valves) I've noticed that there is a variety of opinions on how to and why not to. Anyway Mr. Clay-way thanks for your efforts keep up the good fight, but this is just not for me.

Interesting comment. I suppose I could show people how to do it. but then I would lose my house. I have 990 videos that show people step-by-step how to do several different things. This is one of the few things out of about four things that I can make money off of on my KZbin channel and you’re not necessarily paying for the cleaning and the deleting, you’re paying for my experience and if you think my experience stops with these intakes, you should probably check out my other videos…. I figure my phone number and my abilities to do something are probably far more valuable than any service I ever offer because I always answer questions. I don’t answer questions about things that I make money off of unless somebody has paid me. I know everybody comes to KZbin for things that are free but not everything should be free unless you already have enough money to give things away for free and I give tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, I’m fairly certain that I’ve given away more money than MrBeast….. and not only did I give you the fishing pole to fish to feed your family I taught you how to fish….
