Thank you so much for this video. I am researching above ground shelters. Can you tell me about the flooring? Is it anchored to anything? Is this the 3 ft wide or 7 ft?

Yes it's the 3x7. And the unit dosent have a floor, its bloted directly to your homes slab via concrete anchors, about 30 of them. I just put the carpet I cut from our closet back in the unit.

If it’s in your house what if the house get blown pretty hard and the shelter is connected to the house and gets blown out aswell

Sorry it took so long to respond. If the house gets blown down or falls on top of it the shelter, the unit will be able to withstand the blow. The shelter is directly connected to the slab of the home. The concrete slab will not blow away in the event of a tornado.

Just doesn’t seem like those little bolts would prevent a tornado from ripping it away from the ground.

Thank you, my only concern were some tests I saw which had this shelter being bent a little bit on impact. Would you happen to know if it is feasible to tie plywood to walls to the exterior?

No I wouldn't do that. The plywood would fracture and become a dangerous projectile to the occupants inside. Most if not all metal shelters will bend on strong impacts but not more than 3inches, or else it will be considered a failure, and therefore not be allowed to be sold to the public. Though the steel bends a bit, you will be safe inside. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions, I've done alot of research on above ground shelters, as well as had family members and freinds survive a tornado in a above ground shelter.

Oh sorry I just noticed you said exterior of the shelter. Ya that wouldn't ba an issue, surrounding this shelter with framing and plywood.

Hey mate, I'm about to make my final decision on purchasing a panelized storm shelter. Did you went to any specific websites to research panelized storm shelter's safety or did you just made a few google searches? I'm working on doing this before going ahead with the purchase just want a bit more safety reference.

How was the install? Pretty simple?

Yeah if you're pretty handy with tools and mechanically inclined installs pretty easy. It comes with the floor template so you can mark and drill all of the holes for the concrete anchors, And then it's just grabbing each section and bolting it to the floor and then together.

They're just battery-operated magnetic motion sensor lights I got off of Amazon.
