I just got it in the mail. Sprayed it and it was gone in 5 minutes and smelled like chemically rubber. I hear it has to macerate first so I'll wait and we'll see

@@MalcolmCST I understand that. But 5 minutes and gone? If I were new to this I'd think I got robbed lol. I've bought so many that I didn't have to wait for. Lots of them smell great right off the bat. I hate the waiting game to see if I'll like it a month or two after I bought it.

@@KhalidNov16 I have other ouds and I like them. My nose is totally fine. So that could mean something is up with my bottle. I wish I liked it as much as everyone else. I'll have to wait for it to macerate and we'll see. Until then oh well.

It's a specific type of wood grown in Arab countries I think and because it smells very good its very expensive

It's an agerwood tree. When the tree gets infected or attacked by bugs or anything it releases a resin into the bark that protects it. When the resin gets soaked into the bark they harvest it and get the oud from that. It isn't expensive because it smells good. It can actually smell like poop or a barnyard sometimes but when mixed with other notes it's great. Thats not a very technical explanation but that's the fast and dirty version.
