Looks great and easy install! Live in Canada and bring both vehicles in the garage, with all the snow and junk we bring in from the road we went an epoxy type finish as it is easier to clean up once every other week and same price.

The swisstrax tiles have channels to allow the water to drain but the edge pieces don’t. Water just trickles out between the individual edge pieces. Generally after I’m done washing I just lift up the edge and let most of the water drain out. Probably the only annoyance I have with them.

Why do you like the tile flooring? I would imagine its very difficult to clean (and keep clean) underneath.

Use a shop vac every month or so. Or don’t. Dirt just stays underneath. Out of sight out of mind.

SwissTrax look great for a detailing garage but I can't help but feel like they'd be a pain in an actual "working" garage. Floor jacks, jack stands, fluid spills, etc. would be a massive pain in the ass. I love the look but for the price there are some significant drawbacks.

Absolutely this. Even a garage that sees winters with this flooring feels like it would be a disaster with all the salt and other stuff falling off of the car.

It works beautifully in a fully working garage.

@@nikster22 I could actually see them being somewhat beneficial during winter, since the snow/salt would fall between the trax. Cleaning it in the spring however... You'd basically have to rip the whole floor up (or sections) and sweep/clean under them. A lot of hassle.

@@SlightlyM3ntal Right. It would all “disappear” but even with a drain, the whole system will be filthy. I like a smooth floor where I can push the slush out the door or toward the drain, but Matt is in Florida so the constant influx of dirt probably isn’t an issue.

For the front corner with the ramp up in the concrete. Would it be possible to slowly heat up the tile with a heat gun to form the tile to the slope?

I always wondered how a heat gun might help encourage the tiles to conform to the floor irregularities such as you are dealing with in this install. I appreciate you not editing those parts out. I hope to do my garage within the next year.

I imagine the Florida sun or heat will even it out pretty fast too. Not as fast as a heat gun but will do it for sure.

Regarding washing in the garage.. Rad garage (forget his name), he washes indoors with no drain. Uses the PW for wheels and initial pre rinse. Hose for rinsing off the soap. Which actually makes sense.. max GPM and he’s not blasting soap all over the place.

Rick actually put in a trench drain near the door sometime last year, mostly because he had a problem with ice forming at the edge during the dead of winter.

Can someone please explain to me what happens when you spill oil or any nasty liquid on this stuff? I guess it goes down underneath and soils the tiles, you have to take them up, clean the floor, and then wash the tiles? I guess it’s more of a showroom flooring system than a shop system.

Anyone have experience with the Swisstrax and dogs? I have a Lab and a 31lb Terrier and the dog run is through the garage and they both enjoy “shop time”. I am concerned the dogs would catch their nails. Anyone with first hand experience I would appreciate the feedback.
