I bought one primarily to use for the upstairs of my house. It’s brilliant, gets into all the tiny spaces. I actually do use the mopping function in my small bathroom as unlike my Brava it is able to get around the toilet area. I was pleasantly surprised at how much surface dirt it picked up.

If my wife and I were still in our prior apartment, this would be a great option. The only tiled surfaces were a small kitchen and bathroom, so the wetwipe would work as an occasional extra wipe-down. In our house we're in now, we have the Roborock S7, and we use the mop function after vacuuming a couple of times a week.

I’m literally considering going from a vac only to a vac with mop. We have generally clean house and it’d be handy just to have a wet wipe over the hall and kitchen/living room hard flooring to keep it tidy between proper cleans

Absolutely use both mopping and vacuuming multiple times a week. Little thing might be good for a very small place but for a whole house? I'm not sure it would be up to the task. I feel like there is going to be a lot of touch time. With the one I have it is set it and forget it. I fill the water twice a week. Change the mop out once a week and give it a good cleaning every other week.

Interesting direction from Switchbot there and I think a good one! On the mop question, I have two Robovacs, one of which mops and I use it maybe twice a year. I wouldn’t hesitate to get something without mopping functions if everything else was right.

This would replace two devices in my home, since I use stand-up Dirt Devil vacuum for the carpet and a Swiffer wet wipe steam device for the bathroom and kitchen floors. I also am using a SwitchBot lock system.

Just bought a eufy x8 Pro. What I wanted from a robot vacuum 1. Multi map function 2. Mop 3. Self empty 4. Bagless - I know eufy doesn't have this. They are currently on sale direct from eufy clean for under £500

I'm quite happy with my Roborock S7 without cleaning station and I use the mopping function once a weak (more often when the weather is rainy when there are footprints on the floor of the entrance).

I have the Dreame F9, which I have been really happy with for the last year. It is going to my dad and I have ordered this one. The form factor is just ideal for my weird lay-out. I have used the mopping of the F9, with reusable mops and auto-wetting, just a couple of times. Haven't used it again after..

Since Roborock is the big size king on the market. Switchbot should instead put all effort into making the best mini robot. And refine it.

I have a low model deebot that drags the mop along. Used it once, it sucked and left the floor dirty. Thought maybe the water I put in was the wrong temp or something. Tried it again with hot water and put in a little bit of cleaning fluid. Still pathetic. So I use my old spray mop still.

The switchbot s10 which is coming out soon (way more expensive and bigger), has quite a unique mopping system that I think is going to change the game…

Most of my smart home runs on switchbot however i think this is a little bit of a misfire. I massively agree the mop function is not needed at all . Great video as always Stu 💪😀

I have two shark robot vacuums on two different floors. On the downstairs floor I have hardwood surfaces and upstairs just carpet. For the downstairs I purchased the vacuum with a mopping option and I mop weekly by swapping out the dustbin with one that does both. Shark sells the same vacuum with only the difference being a mop option. I mop once a week while we take our dog for a walk. Simple as swapping the bin and adding water and solution. I’m thankful that I didn’t have to pay for mopping that I would never use on the one I purchased for the floor with no need of it.

I have 2 self-emptying vacs with mopping function. I've never used the function as it drags around a cloth (which, even with the water reservoir is not a great solution). Spinning mops that self clean is the only decent solution.

I have a robo vac and I don't use the mop. Partly because it doesn't have a mop, but I don't really feel the need for one either. I have some hard wood flooring and carpets, but I don't exactly track grime onto my hardwood. If I need to mop it, I'll just mop it... once or twice a year.

I never used the mobbing Funktion. Simply because it needs to be set up every time by hand and I would create no go zones for my carpets. Something I don’t really see me doing with the app. - I really like the smaller size of that bot and depending the price I would prefer having one small vacuum bot and another mobbing bot.

3 robot vacs, one of which is self-emptying. I never use their mopping features, even for the one containing a fancy reservoir for water. Instead, I own a braava robot mop, which I initially bought due to its small size (I wanted something that'd dry sweep the rogue cat litter around the base of the toilet, but eventually tried its mopping functionality and became hooked because it vibrates off the stuck-on bits on the floor). Switch bot k10+ looks to be just the right size to fit everywhere... I only bought the braava to begin with because no small sized (real) robot vac existed at the time. My 11" lefant is still too big. Anyway, there's your answer (switch bot would've been just fine to leave off their "wet wipe mop").

I have a Deebot N79S upstairs (can't mop) and a Deebot N8 downstairs and its mop attachment is still in the box....in the loft somewhere. Brilliant devices but I never use the mop function as I really only have the kitchen to do and its easier to just grab a regular mop now and again.

I have Narwal Freo that I primarily use for mopping. In another area I have an Ecovacs T20 that is an awesome everything machine. Very good vacuum and excellent mop. But I won't use the mop on the little switchbot. I want a mop that mops and washes its mops. Not a glorified swiffer. I bought the switchbot as an impulse buy. I have a thing for robots and I thought it was cute. It will be nice to have a vac that goes into the nooks and crannys

If you look at 3:20, you’ll see a whole cycle on the map - manages to navigate the gallery with no issues at all - despite it being particularly cluttered full of chairs, desks, stools, tables, sofas and all manner of cables 😂

Agree with you that they should remove them for lower end devices. I had a deebot N8 and never used the mop. For how much hard floor I have, it was actually quicker to run a wipe around than set up the mop pad. I know I don't speak for everyone on this as some people do use them Different matter for the high end type.

Thing is with the n8, if you don’t have the self empty station, the reservoir for the water just takes up space that it could have had for on device dirt collection, resulting in fewer trips to empty it. Benefit of this one is that no extra space is taken up by the inclusion of a mopping system thankfully!

The main issue I see with this is, while the more compact size in terms of diameter is neat, it's squeezed everything upwards instead so the device is pretty tall - which would be useless to get under furniture - not an issue for a 'normal' sized cleaner!

@@StusReviewsUK May I say stu, the mop is only useful when it does all by itself, empty, refill, and making sure it doesn't mop carpets. When you have to action these yourself, then it's no longer smart and it's quicker/better to mop yourself

An interesting but dumb mopping concept. I dont have a robovac at present. Im currently researching for the ideal one for my newly aquired hone. This one from switchbot is definitely a contender due to its size. I dont understand the philosophy if wanting to attach a mopping function to these things, after the first metre travelked the mop will be dirty and thus thereafter succeeds in spreading a slurry of dirt off the mop around the rest of the room. Any mopping aficionados know that proper mopping requires the mop to be wrung-out constantly during the mopping operation.....no robo mop head can achieve that!

Actually… the switchbot s10 we saw at IFA back in September has a mechanism where it constantly wrings the mop out as it rotates (take a look at our booth tour for it)!

Stu, I think it is about $100 overpriced. I think the “mop” functionality is pretty useless AND an unnecessary cash grab for the required purchases of the “pads”. I think that goes against what you had pointed out as to features that reduce wear and tear.
