I live in an apartment building so I also bought the Nuki opener to open the house door Downstairs. The opener didn’t work because I have an external ring bell. Then I bought the SwitchBot button to activate the buzzer from outside. And since I had to huy the SwitchBot bot, why not the lock pro as well. It is cheaper and quieter than nuki

I have used Nuki 2 and 3 and also Yale Linus in several Holiday Rentals that I manage. I switched all of them to Switchbot, for several reasons : Price, Battery Life and Functions. Battery life is 50% better than Yale and 40% better than Nuki. The Mini Hub (I also have the Hub 2 in several houses is cheap and had a at least a 5 x longer range than the hubs from Nuki and Yale, which enables me to pair 3 locks in certain houses with 1 hub. Besides that in many Holiday Rentals the hub now also pilotes the airconditioning from a distance, which means big savings for the owners. In certain house I have lights at the entrance coupled to the switchbot, so that when the lock opens the door a light goes on as well. The Switchbot lock allows temporary codes which can be set for 15 minutes minimum and also unique codes that can be used only once. You mention that the Switchbot Pro Lock does not have that ? I will find that out tomorrow when I will install 4 of those for a new listing. The Switchbot helpdesk is super reactive and offer great service. I am sure that the functions of the old Switchbot lock will (soon) be available for the Pro Lock if that is not already the case. We use wifi for all our locks and Switchbot costs half the price of Nuki, offers more functions, and is sooo much quieter than the loud Nuki lock. The only thing for which Nuki is ‘’better’’ is that Nuki has integrations with more rental software companies than Switchbot. But I don’t use that functionnality, we welcome all our guests personnally and then let them choose their code for the duration of their stay until their check-out time. Switchbot also is more compatible with more keys and knobs than any other smartlock.

Have you also examined how powerful the motors are for these two units and Aqara? My door requires a significant amount of force to turn the key!

I’m not sure either have specs for how strong they are. I’d probably recommend emailing the companies support to see what they sale about strength

An interesting and informative video Mark, thank you. With the logs, does it detail if/when the lock is activated by the key? Or only when the smart functionality is used to operate it?

Interesting question! Just tested it and both show it as ‘manual’ in the logs which for switchbot is the same as if you’d turned it from the inside or pressed the button whereas Nuki does distinguish between pressing the button and manual

Nice that someone test both. I use the nuki and if I do not wahr that someone go in I can deactivate the Code for the person in nuki or switchbot. But the impirtant Thing ist, when I go home at the night the nuki is loud, so it is nice to know that the switchbot pro lock is more quite

I believe switchbot are working on improving the code functionality but have no idea when that’s likely to be released

Update: the SwitchBot Pro didn’t work at all where. Even after Calibration, the lock wouldn’t just close my door, whereas the Nuki 4 worked like a Charme. I sent the SwitchBot back and will order the nuki 4 pro soon. Also: whereas the nuki didn’t leave any adhesive, the SwitchBot pro leave a lot of adhesive which I can’t remove. Any tips?

I heart it cost 50€ extra to unlock thread on the normal nuki 4. Is this the case?

Yes it is…I did a 4 vs 4 Pro comparison and basically said if you need that access within the Nuki app you might as well go Pro. It still works away from home via the Apple home app without that upgrade though

I bought the 4 pro last week, it ruined my Mauer nw4 cilinder. How? At a certain point it kept turning left to open the door for 10 mjnutes, i had to take the batteries out to stop it. Locking is limited by 720° (2 complete right turns) or less: this is adjustable to less turning. Opening the door with something like a 90° swing does the job. But not this crap: it uses a forced stop of the motor to stop turning. A new lock is on it's way, costing me €230. I'm not sure if i'm gone try it once more.😢.

This isn’t made to replace the deadbolt. It’s to place over the existing one. This is the best option for those who live in apartments where it’s prohibited to modify the deadbolt.

Don't buy switchbot lock, the locks get out of calibration and jam. For me, the first time after 3 months. Now the lock is constantly jammed and every second use it has to be recalibrated. Support responds once a week, and the refund granted is just a constant promise that they will do it and then that they are checking what is going on with it and so on forever. If you get a copy from the 30-day return, you may have a problem adding the lock to your account. I'm writing this everywhere as a warning against this lock and a company that doesn't care about its customers. Read on the Internet that many people have problems with this lock.

Thanks for sharing, always good to hear other people’s experience. I’m still using this lock and haven’t had any issues like that
