This video shows the control of a 1.5kW, 6/4 switched reluctance generator. Special attention is paid on the nonlinearity of the machine and back EMF compensation for this machine.

Thank you very much for this video! Hope I'm beginning to understand how this works. I want to make very small-power bicycle SRG for front and rear lights, based on disc brake rotor! It it made of steel and has 48 holes around for better ventilation. If I set up an electromagnet instead of brake pads, I get SRG here, working at 60 Hz when driving 10 km/h, 120 Hz at 20 km/h etc. It seems that single coil would be able to generate roughly 4 watts of power, with no extra moving parts needed...

Congratulations for the work you have done! Do you have some article published about this ? I am interesting in SRG research. I have been in China for 2 years in Zhejiang University, it can be chinese articles too.

Hello Micael, no, I just read a lot of paper about SRG and re-produced what other researchers have done before regarding SRG. There is not so much new contribution at this stage. This is a highly nonlinear machine. There are many things that can be done

How come it generates pulsed DC instead of pulsed AC? Stray magnetic field in rotor issue?

SRG is not an AC motor, it is powered by pulsed DC current in each phase in sequency. Therefore, it generates DC, not AC

@@yusileng Why wouldn't it work with AC if it works with pulsed DC? What is the design for SRG? There is no way the rotor would be made of only metal if emf is induced.

@@yusileng Nvm. I think I now understand how SRG works. However, it DOES work with AC. You need to supply leading reactive power to it instead and must be in resonance with the system frequency. The resultant phenomenon is known as "parametric resonance" as the inductance is switched at twice the system frequency due to 6/4 motor design which can amplify power to the extreme. However this delves into the realm of "free energy" due to it being reactionless. If you're wondering where does the 2nd harmonics went? Either parametric resonance "eats" it up or it is absorbed by the 4 pole synchronous condenser. Yes, 4 pole synchronous condenser which supplies the necessary leading reactive power. The only input feedback would be the rotor excitation for the synchronous condenser. How much power? Need simulink to test it.
