Switching and Shoving in L'Anse! 4/18/2024

I got to L'Anse early but the train did not show so I went over to the Shrine to start Spring clean up. I had my scanner with me so I thought maybe I should turn it on and as soon as I did I heard Derek talking very clearly so I knew the train was close! So the rest of the time the train was in town I had to hand hold the camera which made for some shaky vids in parts and a couple bloopers but I feel it is Ok for viewing! You can always fast forward! Spoiler alert-the engines did make the trip out of L'Anse-not sure if they tied down somewhere or went all the way to Euclid. Hoping for better luck Tuesday for following the CN and exploring the quarry!

That new position you took at the bottom of the hill was very nice in that it points out the big difference in grades. Got a kick out of the headlight and top of the unit peering over the tops of the gons. 24 cars of which 23 were gons and Hoppers was the most in a while. Indeed the two six car cuts I had seen from a tape from the Fox Valley we're among the group in today's consist

I believe you once told me that the place there turns those ties into energy? The river looked great and also thought you fell into the street. Please don't do that.

I'll do my best Tom and yes the ties are for Koppers to process and then they are chipped and go to the Biomas Plant for energy conversion.

This is the latest that the L'Anse Local has arrived in L'Anse, Michigan in a long time. Thank you for waiting for the Local to come into town. You did catch the Local coming into L'Anse and then watching the train enter the yard. You followed them as they left the yard and eventually made the shoving move across U.S. 41 toward the Koppers and CertainTeed plants. Did the crew end up taking the train out of L'Anse or did they end up leaving it at the yard and taking a vehicle ride to wherever they had to go to sign out for the day?

The crew left L'Anse in the Engines but I do not know how far they made it!
