Lmao I love that they're taking advantage of the current situation. Good luck to you Wonderland!

Nobody is happy about the situation. Nevertheless, there are developers exploring alternatives, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them.

@@WonderlandEngine I wonder (ha! pun intended) if this will spur the new era of different engine and more games on different platforms like it we had around early 2000's were almost each project was done on some homebrew engine (basically pre-Unity dominating the indie market era). I wish you the best of luck, guys! Thanks for this video (KZbin randomly recommended it).

@@WonderlandEngine haha thanks, I really enjoy the fact that its similar enough to unity that I can easily understand it

can you do the same for unreal engine to wonderland engine?

Unity has a vast array of current tutorials, and learning platforms. Every video here doesn't work with current js nor the files packaged with Wonderland. Why don't the videos match the code?
@WonderlandEngine Жыл бұрын
With the release of 1.0.0, we made some large changes to the JavaScript API. Every video released since April will be perfectly compatible! We are working on upgrading the videos released before that.

@@WonderlandEngine dang fast response! Respect! I am slowly finding everything. The Discord is a huge help. I got frustrated when I went through 5 parts of building a game and in the 6th part nothing would work due to the API change... I still love Wonderland and I am glad you are working on updating the videos. It would be awesome if you folks made an update for the 6 part building a webxr for quest series. Thanks for everything!
@WonderlandEngine Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The 6-part series is going to be replaced with a course showing how to build a mini-golf game very very soon!

The biggest drawback for me, even though the engine seems perfect for what I do (webGL games on Unity) is obviously the lack of C# support. Yeah, I could learn JS or TS, and maybe in the end of the day it will motivate me to do so, but I guess the majority of indie devs would rather not to. It's a win-lose situation to me right now, but I will definitely be checking and messing with the engine since I found it.

You will find that JavaScript/TypeScript are similar enough to C# that they will be super easy to learn. For C# developers we would recommend TypeScript. The downside of C# on the web is that you need to download a separate runtime while for JS/TS the runtime is part of the browser and works out of the box.

This is really impresive been looking for a tool to make webxr expereinces easily and wonderland is right for the job. Apart from webxr can we build just web based games with this.
@WonderlandEngine Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Classic web-based games are supported on mobile and desktop. You can even build a game that supports everything all at once.
