I'm Filipino, and my jaw literally dropped upon hearing this. It's not common in our culture to have arranged marriages, especially in these modern times!!! Years ago, I fell so deeply in love with this man. We dated and broke up and for 7 years, I kept asking God to bring him back into my life. I stumbled upon this by accident. This was fascinating and inspiring. I had actually wanted my father to choose a husband for me because his standards for me were higher than my own. And l always found the Rebekah and Isaac story super romantic. God as the matchmaker was always an incredibly special honor, I thought. Rachel Brabham it is very true! I am a living testimony of online dating. We celebrated 12 years in marriage on 12th of August and we are blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. We did this for the longest time because the previous generations value security more than love. I believe now we're in a more developed age and now know better, i think we should focus more on developing ourselves spiritually, emotionally, mentally etc. I mean... people are complaining they can't find the right person and dating pretty much sucks. Haha i am gonna go deeper here. We shouldn't blame the external circumstances and look at ourselves because I believe that if we only work on ourselves we will be able to find the right person and not just let other people do it for us. Arranged marriages basically avoid the chaos of finding the right person but imho, that's how we grow and able to know ourselves better. Im American and I dont think arranged marriages are weird. The way I see it is if you are in a God ordained union then you are in an arranged marriage. The Most High is my father and he set me up with my husband. I was not initially attracted to him and I did not want to be with him. He pursued me relentlessly saying God told him I am his wife since the first day we met. Still happily married 11 years later, I can say he was right. I keep falling for him everyday... I am a single woman in America. After 2 failed relationships, I would be interested in who others would choose for me. It’s not that crazy because the hardest part of choosing a mate is worrying if your friends and family would approve. The relief comes after the family says they like this person. I'm American and mixed with three different ethincties. Yes, a movie should be made, but us let us not argue amongst our Christian brothers and sisters (brethren). Since, the Lord made every ethnicity coming from Adam & Eve (the mother of all nations), this couple's true story can be made and shared in any country... as long as their true story is told and not diluted. God's love is universal...He doesn't see color (not a racist), but loves to create beautiful colors in all of His creation. If house pets comes in diffent colors, mate, and have children, but no one sees or have any problems with it. So this is how God sees us. Once upon a time, all ethnicities married outside of their race, because we all spoke one language, and we didn't see a difference, until God gave us different languages, due to disobedience in Babel. We're finally experiencing how the human race were now as it was before Babel through God with His gift of science, technology, and language translation when He gave His children a dream how to communicate.
