I was mega hyped for this game, I remember original TWEWY as one of my best gaming memories of all times. I bought NEO TWEWY at release day and aww man it's really awesome, even beyond my expectations. Characters are very likeable and unique, story is intriguing, mysterious and funny. I'm sure soundtrack and battle mechanics are nice for veterans and newcomers as well. Tbh I'm not a big fan of these music genres, but imo they fit perfectly in this game design style. Fans of prequel can add at least 10 pts to final score ;) Thanks SwitchUp for amazing content as always. You are best switch channel :)

@@OghuzKhaghan I stick to one console for simplicity’s (and time’s) sake, so I’m only looking for what’s on the Switch. I do know that a huge portion of the amazing library on the Switch comes from other consoles though, which is another reason I love the platform. I feel the art styles come in part due to the graphical and computational limitations of the device, which is really cool on its own.

Stylized anime is the form of 3D that fits the Switch best, imo. The lack of details cuts down on the need for the requisite power, allowing developers to focus more closely on gameplay. It's like how Okami looked so good on the Wii.

The game takes pride in switching up whatever format you get comfortable with, sometimes multiple times a week. The gameplay for combat and exploration will more or less stay the same (aside from travel and scanning upgrades and new moves), but it experiments within that framework to keep you from being bored. Especially since non-story encounters are optional.

Feels like you guys should have a 'story' section in your review setup. I would say Audio and Visual could more easily be combined into one section than having just 'Gameplay' and it being implied that story is in there as the 2 are very distinct. I know plenty of games with great gameplay who's story is just lackluster. That's one critique to some of the review I've watched from ya'll; it feels like there isn't a lot of assessment of the quality of the story, characters, etc and that its like an afterthought thrown in with like a sentence when that's a huge deal for me with games.
@SwitchUpYt2 жыл бұрын
We recap story and it feeds into the gameplay score section. Reviews are subjective by their very nature of course, but story is so subjective that we feel giving it a full 20 points of its own could really skew scores. For example, a visual novel's gameplay section would heavily take story into account because the amount of 'actual' gameplay could be limited. It never ignored, it's just taken into consideration with gameplay. Glen

Wholeheartedly agree! I'm getting a bit too annoyed with the huge amount of dialogue, both in cutscenes as well as while traversing the world (sometimes you're at the "!!" location but you first have to mash through some random flavor text). The difficulty and level reduction options are great though, really nice to up the challenge while getting extra rewards! I really wish that games would have options to turn off mission markers and hand-holding (like "Hey, maybe you could remind them?!" which was already blatantly obviously the thing to do).
