Got online this evening and it's a blast!! 4 players working together, I'm officially a truck nerd. Also, didn't mention in review there are 6 massive maps. The most difficult review to make...ever! Yeah, but Mark's statement is still valid. See, wing mirrors reflection could be related to a graphical limitation on the Switch. Another game that comes to mind published by FOCUS Interactive is _Farming Simulator Nintendo Switch Edition_ aka Farming Simulator 17. The game can only render half of the plantation that you see on the screen, the other half is a blurry mess. And that's with wing mirrors disabled. This goes to show how powerful the Switch's performance is for those simulator games.

@@Alinktome It is possible, and you might as well do it, as you'll uncover hidden vehicles on the map you choose and that's the one thing you should do in order to get used to the way the game works: the steering wheel. See, in most games when you use the stick to steer, after that you let go of the stick, so that the steering wheel can get back to its reset position - not in this game; To 'reset' the positioning of it, you have to steer it back to the opposite direction you turned to. I find that to be annoying, but by playing the game a lot, you may get used to it. Just be careful as you drive-and-explore: the game's day-night cycle is really fast and there are some spots you shouldn't try your luck on, especially at night, as visibility is very limited and by driving at night in uncharted territory is pretty much asking for trouble. One other reason you should be concerned about is the gasoline meter, as you probably know. So go ahead and drive to your heart's content, unlock more vehicles, gas posts and have a go at the game. I hope you enjoy it.

"I can't believe you can play this for hours" my wife said last night as she fiddled on her phone. It is slow, methodical and often drawn out... but I absolutely love it! It's a real treat to just watch some of the larger beast like machines moving over the terrain. Great physics all around, trees moving as you brush past, mud moving and squishing, water pushing aside or your truck and trailer jack knifing at the mercy of the river's current, vehicle suspension articulating over the terrain, and the bang with damage done as you "accidentally" driver over a stump. At first I didn't feel the need for "Achievements" but now that I'm farther into the game I appreciated them pushing me to do things I may not have done naturally. I've put in about 30 hours on single player, each mission has been about 3 hours long so I have approximately 9 more hours left; after that there is hardcore mode and more achievements to go for. It is a fantastic change of pace and once I start playing find it's hard to stop. Multiplayer does require a Nintendo Online subscription. It runs great in handheld but I really enjoy this on a big TV. This is a more grown up way, aside from the real thing, to play with trucks in the mud!

Only got this game because it was on sale during Black Friday 2022. Looked it up real quick, because I wanted a decent truck sim on the Switch. I was expecting this to be some shovelware, but I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. I was expecting a truck sim like ATS/ETS, but this really took a different direction and I'm a huge fan. I've had this game for a month and absolutely love it. It's the most technologically impressive game on the switch in my opinion, the respectable graphics coupled with the realistic physics engine and fully rendered environment are most impressive. It looks good in handheld mode and even better docked. It certainly pushes the switch to it's limits. This game makes my switch warmer than any other game does and has the cooling fan maxed. This is not a game for everyone, it's very slow paced and some may find it boring and tedious. It you are into trucks, heavy machinery, and appreciate realistic physics and gameplay, you will love this game. I am a fan of typical fast paced racing games and this is certainly not that. I do think this is the best driving game currently available on the switch. There is a good amount of replay value with both trying to complete all the challenges and main maps 100% in both casual and hardcore modes.

Of all the games I thought would tempt my 14 yr old son away from Fortnite... I never thought it would be something like this. We got it for £14 each in the sale and spent 4 hours playing in a private online game this afternoon. What this game excels at is “emergent gameplay”. At one point, I was waiting for my son to come and refuel me, and I saw him crash through so trees and roll his truck down a bank above me, landing perfectly. We were then rolling on the floor laughing.

And the crazy thing was he supposed to be looking for a used car but once he seen the truck he convinced his parents to buy it for him for like a couple thousand. She then his only means of transportation was this huge ass beat up truck that wasn't practical for daily driving 😆. And it was an older truck so anytime he took if off roading, something would break. Wasn't long before he junked it

This is your funniest review since Paranautical Activity! The intro was brilliant, and I would have loved to see your kids screaming at you which way to go. This review gave me flashbacks of the time when I was a child and my dad threw us in his Jeep to drive up a mountain and go watch a fire. We got stuck in the mud and somebody had to pull us out. This game is now on sale for $8,99, which sounds like a deal I'm going to make. I was a long time Euro Truck Simulator driver, invested over 300 hours into it, and I could see myself enjoying this game. The lack of GPS is "ehhh whatever" for me because the game wants the player to explore the map and rewards them for doing it, with new truck discoveries, which characterizes it as an open-world wild terrain explorer simulator (oh my gosh what am I saying), which is a great thing and in my opinion.. -oh screw it, I'm going to buy this game.

You'll see how the game approaches you with some cargo and trucks are spread around (hidden) on a map you'll have to uncover by driving close to a watch tower, which reveals a region of the map. As you reveal more vehicles, you'll realize how pathetic you are for delivering a heavy ass cargo with a far inferior truck when it would've been WAY EASIER to just drive around, find out a new and much more capable vehicle which could have handled that with ease, but consumes more gas. Then, as you're given yet another set of cargo to deliver across the map, you feel excited so initially you're like _Hmm maybe I can deliver that in one go if I choose this truck which supports this ginormous bed_ as you hurry your ass over to the destination, you're bound to ask yourself _why on earth did I choose this road?_ and because this game supports night/day cycle you might have second thoughts _Oh nice, so I ended up on this jumpy terrain with tons of rocks, and mud, and my gas is like it's leaking out bc this fucking truck is drinking it like a champ and now I'm going in BLIND because it's night time. FUCKING Awesome!_ That was my experience but if you've made this far, I'm not gonna fool you. Mudrunner requires a HUGE learning curve. Learn your way to the destination and which trucks are the best option for whatever cargo you'll have to deliver or wherever you'll have to go. Keep that in mind, it is NOT just a matter of go-to-and-fro so if you're into struggling-and-learning , this is definitely for you.

I normally wouldn't give a game like this a second thought and just move past it forgetting its existence. But I wouldn't be saying this if I wasn't looking at several reviews and where to get it the cheapest as we speak. Given that Snake Pass, Human Fall Flat, and other physics-based problem solving games with movement-challenged characters seem to be the ones I keep returning to long after finishing them, this might very well be a very satisfying massive time sinker. No pun intended. Trucks (or any cars) don't appeal to me whatsoever, but when looking at them from such a perspective... Woods and rivers and just wild landscapes on the other hand, and they look great from what I can see in the video's here.

SwitchUp omg that video is awful xD it was for a college project, and we were trying to be idiots the whole time xD the funniest thing about that is that I was in a bad car accident roughly a year ago, and lost 90% of my memory from before the accident. I will say that yes, most assuredly the graphical rendering doesn't happen beyond a certain distance. I doubt even a high end PC could render every polygon of every model for the entire world at the same time. More than likely what is happening is that it is either saving a very detailed state when you get too far, or it's just letting the physics simulation run in the areas around the trucks. Graphical rendering and physics are two entirely different systems in virtually every game.

No rear view mirrors on PS4 either. Which is funny cuz the game is pretty adamant about driving in first person early on. Doesn't help the cockpit looks like crap. All in all it's still a good game. I do wish they would update with some better cockpit views.

Can you invert the x-axis? I grew up playing stuff like Mario 64, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess (GC), etc, and I refuse to have my camera swing right when I push left. (I know why people prefer that, I just like the idea of controlling the camera, not the character's/truck's neck.)

@@AndrewRoyalsinfreealex In what i have seen in videos of Mudrunner vs Snowrunner looks Mudrunner like a better and more realistic game in my opinion. I would rather have a realistic game even tho the graphics isn't as good as in Snowrunner. Everything looks more realistic in Mudrunner from the way that the vehicles move over the terrain, the way that the water moves away from the vehicles in the rivers, how the dirt looks and how it splashes onto the vehicles while driving and in Mudrunner the vehicles seem to have real frame flex compared to Snowrunner where the vehicles are more rigid. I have bought Mudrunner now and i dont know if i'm going to buy Snowrunner later.

Fantastic review ... i could have watched this all day, and your kids might be crying, but you got a stunt achievement ! 😂 It looks so well done , as a sim it looks amazing, but its not a game to me. we all have that one mate that does this in real life. yeh he's into landrovers and winching. its a thing. He takes a car ..gets it stuck in mud...then goes rescue it with a winch...on purpose, at weekends! yeh.....

This looks like a odd one, the graphics look great though the mud and water effects in particular are supremely impressive. Weirdly curious and (can’t believe I’m gonna day this) but i will add it to my watchlist. Prefer this over Farming simulator

Yeah, you know what I spent a few hours playing online tonight and it's actually a really fun game. The fun comes from trying to get from one point to the next intact. The environments are brutally tricky to navigate. (Mark)

One question - How does the game really work without the analog triggers on the switch? I thought it would be essential to be very careful with the speed trigger, and that this would be even the main thing in such a simulation game. You know, driving through deep mud at full throttle is usually not very beneficial and not really realistic. Seems to be nice to have this game on the Switch, but maybe PS4/XBOX versions are just way better to control this machines!?

It's absolutely fine to be honest. You can use the winch or feather the throttle if needed but usually just using all wheel drive gets you through and or differential lock. (Mark)

the whole fun of this game is the realistic mud and driving the vehicles through it.but Nintendo has had to turn down the graphics so much for this to play on there crappy console that it doesn't look like real mud anymore.but Nintendo don't care there only interested in ripping off children.
