Switzerland by Drone & Timelapse in 4K - 11 minutes of Peacefulness

A much slower-paced video than most of our drone videos, in this "Blank by Drone" video we travel through the mountains of Switzerland to soak in the beautiful and dramatic landscapes that are offered there.
We spent 9 days in Switzerland in May 2017 during a 5-week roadtrip around Europe, and it was incredible! I've been working on one variation or another of this film for almost three years now. Each time I tried to edit this I just couldn't find the right way to put it together to convey how incredible the experience and how beautiful the landscapes were. Admittedly I still don't think this video does it justice, but it's my best attempt, so it's here for you to hopefully enjoy.

This is the first of two videos that we've made about Switzerland. Our next video is in our "Through Our Eyes" series, and will highlight some of our experiences exploring this incredibly beautiful country.
The equipment used for this video was:
DJI Inspire 1 Raw
Panasonic GH5
Panasonic GH4
Canon 70-200mm f2.8
Voigtlander 25mm f0.95
Lumix 7-14mm f4.0
And this was edited in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
The music tracks are "Dwell (Snowfall Remix)" by Tony Anderson and "Deeper (Extended Version)" by Chris Coleman, and they were licensed through Musicbed. I've been wanting to use "Dwell" since discovering it on Musicbed almost five years ago, but it's such a long and slow track that it needed the right subject, and the dramatic landscapes of Switzerland were the right subject.

I've thought about doing editing tutorials, but haven't really considered color grading, so that's something I'll need to think about.

Thanks for watching! This video is a long time coming -- I've been trying to make a video out of this footage for almost three years. Obviously the landscapes are incredible and beautiful, but putting it together into something that does it justice was challenging. I wanted to do one big video that incorporated both drone & timelapse with shots of us traveling around Switzerland, but that was proving too difficult, so I thought just a long relaxing video was the way to go. I actually have also made an "our experience" video, which I'll be publishing next week, so keep an eye out for that. That one includes some of these same shots, but it helps convey the travel aspects of being there.

The filming is stunning. What is missing for me is some text or audio that tells the viewer what they are seeing. The lake is great, but what lake is it? what are those towns? what other things of interest is there in your subject?

Holden Herbert thanks for the feedback. I listed the locations in the description (generally in order, but without timecodes, and when a place repeats I didn’t list it again). The lake is Lake Lucerne. The towns are Brig, St. Niklaus, and Zermatt.

I actually had thought about adding the locations, but didn’t want to muddy the image with text. That’s also why I didn’t include a watermark, which I usually prefer to include on my drone videos. But, with your suggestion it makes me think of another way that I can do it: I’ll add Closed Captions to the video so that the locations can be known for those who are interested in knowing. Come back tomorrow and the video will have CC with all the locations.

Nope, that's not the style I was going for with this. I wanted this to be a piece that someone could just turn on and relax to -- just beautiful shots put to beautiful music -- and my voice would hinder that. That said, I've now updated the Closed Captions to show locations, so you can watch it now with those on and know where each shot was filmed. :-)

@@BlueMantleFilms I realize tht what I suggested to you is not your style, but it does show some possibilities. If I were doing it, I'd put this in the can and look at how to add something to the future videos. don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful video. I just see many more opportunities.
