With a title like Watergun, this was not what I expected, neither did I expect the deep voice with the deep lyrics. I appreciate it very much and I'm looking to vote for it in the semi because this is a song that needs to be heard by as many people as possible.

One of my fav ballads of the year, I love this song, it´s being a bit overlooked because of all the danceable songs we have so far in my opinion, but this can be a moment on stage

This is frequently overlooked. It's beautiful and we know he can sing this. Last year they were also not expected to qualify but they did. And this seems more appealing to televotes than marius

I m definitely a fan! I m happy you liked it too as I see too many people are sleeping on it. I think this entry with this message has super-high potentials. If they achieve a really RIGHT staging that will let the emotion shine through, this is even challenging for victory! People seem so tired of ballads and everyone wants to party this year BUT that is gathering too many party songs in the Grand Final so they kill each other. And there's the "ballad rule". In the latest 15+ years everytime we had less than 9 ballads in GF a ballad won. With no exception ever. It 's quite certain that we 'll have less than 9 ballads in this year's GF. So, yes, I expect victory for a ballad. Can Loreen's entry be considered as a ballad? Well, could be but for some reason I don't feel the momentum being there for Loreen. She might win the juryvote but not the whole thing. I see Switzerland as the epic dark horse that can rise out of nowhere, suddenly bedazzle everyone into a wild stream of emotions. I cried so hard with this song even in the first listening, I really hope they know how to present it cause the message feels super-right for this year. In 2022 we showed support to Ukraine, now we need to evolve and go deeper to the substance of the core of it. Nothing more spot on than a wonderful anti-war song which adresses the problem exactly where it originates. In the way we grow up. Patriarchy and imperialism have always been thriving hand by hand. The waterguns are opening the way for riffles and nukes. This young lad with his "watergun" and his beautiful manly voice on a boy's face is the one to sing the silly war-thirst away! I hope I m not a lonely dreamer here. Switzerland is the winner we need this year. Yes, let's party with cha cha and other fun stuff but in the end of the day nothing is more celebratable than deep realisations that can make tomorrow better for everyone. Thank you for this entry, Switzerland! I hope Europe will finally reward you.

Thank you for that appreciation post. You are one of unfortunately not too many who really got the message. I hope 🇨🇭 can go through in this tough semi and get the chance to shine in the final. It's a shame semi 1 is so much stronger than semi 2. There are probably 12-13 worthy songs battling for 10 spots, whereas in semi 2 i have a hard time picking 10 songs I would want in the final 😢.

I love the idea of this winning and wouldn't mind if it happened even instead of my own country (Finland). But I think this year might be an exception to the rule. Well, we haven't yet got the prerehearsals so everything can change there. I am however pretty sure this will qualify.

@@Stephanie-ve5do well, I do have deep appreciation for Swirzerland's suggestion this year although I think since it's EuroVISION, the visuals of the presentation is an important part of the suggestion. It seems to me that this song has a very complete concept ( even the starting with the retro romantic piano adds loads to the emotion. The bridge "what we ve become" with the break through gives me goosebumbs everytime. What I m trying to say is that the music video is implying that they realy know what they are doing there and that they already have ideas for the presentation. I hope they won't disappoint me with that. I m quite worried and underwelmed seeing how few people get the message so far. I believe it's not a coinsidence at all that the most people geting it are from countries that have recent or even current struggles with war or at least having mandatory military service. Quite a few western European countries who've had decades of peace and no obvious pressure to militarisation might miss the feeling of how you can be forced to fight while you don't want to. The "I don't want to be a soldier, soldier" is a heart-electrifying scream from my soul to my soul whereas for those who haven't noticed the pressure it might even sound pretentious. So the huge challenge for the presentation is: "Take them all with you". As it's not only about actual war. War is everywhere. The choice of holding guns instead of flowers is everywhere. Europe NEEDS to understand the point. The world needs to understand. Humanity needs this song. So I care about seeing the SONG appreciated. I don't care too much about countries but, even if I did, Switzerland has walked a path of quality lately so I feel the momentum is there. I agree about semi2 being very weak, I don't find 10 songs to care about but for the Swiss entry it's pointless to hope for qualification. This will end up either a winner or totally wasted opportunity. This song is not made for mediocrity. You either get it or you don't. You are either flooded with emotions or you are meh. Please, get this right, Switzerland!!

@@irene6119 hmm I don't realy see the ballad rule being broken. But I have to admit that if Switzerland fails to convey their winner message, I don't see any other ballad who could be a winner. Except if we accept Sweden's entry as a ballad. That could win, yes. And it's the only alternative. I realy don't see Finland winning as the juries wouldn't have it in top5. Not even top10 I 'd say. Except IF... only IF a marketing game will be played this year. It's very rare to have a song everyone is expecting to win the televote. Might be first time ever? Everyone believes that Finland will win the televote. So it's the perfect opportunity for the juries to change their image and look less alienated from the public desire. So, if they push themselves enough to bring Finland up to the top5 of the juries, yes, Finland could win Eurovision 2023. But I realy hope this won't happpen cause it would be horrible. Last year's victory of Ukraine was a massive punch on Eurovision's idea of credibility. If Finland (or Ukraine of course) wins this year, it will be the final gravestone on Eurovision. It's different to know that politics matter, area-blocks matter, alies matter and different to see the whole of juryvote and televote being so accurately ,obviously and shameslessly penetratable. The whole idea of song competion will be a total joke.

I also think that this song could end up in the Top10. But I also had to make the experience over several (many) years, that all songs I liked, did not get many points. Therefore, my opinion is probably not one, which is significant. 😄Lets hope, he makes it to the finals.

i find it absolutely ridiculous that some people think that remo should not sing a song about war just because he is swiss. yes switzerland is politically neutral and is not allowed by law to supply any warring party with weapons. but switzerland is also known for the humanitarian aid it provides in many conflicts and because of there neutrality they can do that. and switzerland is just as much against war (no matter where in the world) as anyone else. and switzerland also has an army. and in switzerland, every young man MUST join the army and go through recruit school with a machine gun and combat boots. and of course a young artist like remo thinks about war and experiences in his own way what it means when a children's game becomes serious reality. we must not forget that the desire for peace and freedom has absolutely nothing to do with politics. it is a human need. and that is what the song stands for. # united by music

I completely agree with you and i’m happy you gave such a positive reaction. Some other reactions have been rather mixed. I think it‘s a very good song, I like the cinematic orchestration. His voice is absolutely amazing and will definitely stand out. I do worry about it though, since Semifinal 1 is all Televote and people usually don‘t vote for ballads. But let‘s see, with a good staging it still has a chance!

Just rewatched the whole video and I love the lyrics the most, the vocal is solid but not as good as a few of the other men in the competition. The song is interesting. I see this as making top 20 but not top 10...

The lyrics are a little off for my tastes - his voice and the melody are solid though. Staging is going to be absolutely key for Switzerland. If they do bad staging like last year then this will suffer but creative staging could be amazing with good result.
