The swivel technique is definitely gnarlier, and it sounds like you're getting a legit hit every stroke. However, the doubles seem way tighter rhythmically at the highest speeds. It seems like there's a bpm where the switch from swivel to heel-toe would be beneficial.

Swivel got lots more power .... Heel toe more clean at high bpm .... But heel toe without trigger is useless, no power .... And without trigger the sound from heel VS sound from toe usually not even .... So i prefer ankle or swivel technique ....

Yes but why shouldn't you use a trigger? In Metal? No Trigger?

@@holyknight6382 Very true. In higher speeds the mic setup just sounds muddier. Triggers not only adjust the volume but the enhances clarity of the tone as well making each individual hit sound coherent.

It all matters on the user. You seem to do better with the swivel. I switch when one muscle gets tired but I prefer to just stomp the pedals old school trad grip but on foot

Heel toe sounds more well sorted and... confident? Meaning the hits just seem to fall into place more smoothly.

at 280 bpm, swivel looks like someone legs when dying by hanging. hahaha. anyway, swivel have more power but kinda tense the muscle more? if the trigger setting is correct, heel toe can save up more energy and still sounded great.

heel toe is more forceful the blow from the beginning, and swivel you have to take flight, at least that happens to me :/ but the bad thing about the heel toe is that it doesn't pull without triguers

hey nice video ! can you hint on some of your pedal settings? beater distance, pedal lever + action + direct-drive height and spring tension? thanks

Man if this wasn't triggered it would barely be audible impressive but the beater at 270 & 280 is like a ⅛ of an inch from the kick drum head

yeah you can. my heel toe is actually louder than my ankle tech single strokes. you will probably not get the second hit to sound as loud as the first one, but heel toe can still sound powerful without triggers, at least that has been my experience. that said, if you're playing extreme metal, get yourselves a pair of triggers, even if it's just for live. you'll thank yourself for the extra clarity and punch your bass drum sound will get.
