You’re lovely to listen to❤ I’m going to have a go at the diagonal stitching. We have a crow 🐦‍⬛ that visits us every year and come quite close to us 😮

The seagulls must think your son is throwing chips for them with the nerf pellets! They just need to work out a way to get inside. Thanks for the diagonal stitching advice. This is something I am going to try in a fortnight when I have finished my current piece. I have only done cross country up to now.

Thank you for the lovely video. And you're right about no visible lines in your work. I also love the neatness of your diagonal line, and the first glimpses of the buildings. Please continue th SWM, especially on this project 😀

Enjoy your company whilst I stitch, thank you...I often wonder if our method of stitching says something meaningful about our mindset..if so mine must be absolute chaos..lol...def an extreme cross country, ooh I like that colour I'll stitch that, kind of stitcher 😁👍🇬🇧 ..

Thank you, thank you for explaining a bit of what you are doing! And defining some of the terms you use, as well. I’m a new cross stitcher and have just started watching floss tube. There are So many interesting videos but it’s like listening to a different language with all of the odd terms and acronyms that are never explained. I’m so grateful you explained some of it 😊

This was great for me as I am working on a piece that is almost solid confetti - I usually like to run a thread out unless the next stitch is too far, but I love the idea of coming up 'clean' I think I will try this for a bit on what I'm working on. I also came across another chart that has a similar flavour, just not as nice colour-wise as it is a darker time of night. Could not find the artist's name. It is called Moonrise Over a Winter Village. As I'm sitting in a lot of snow at the moment at -20* I think I'd only be able to stitch this in the summer.... Another on the same Etsy page is Starry Night Over a Winter Village, very Van Gough kind of sky! I'm off to try this, thanks!

When you're saving on floss, it's called Chicken Floss. Love your stitch a longs. Happy Village is looking so good. I'm doing what I call Wine and Roses. It's a picture of a glass of pink Champaign with baby roses in the wine with the bubbles coming up around them and a bunch of grapes on the table. The predominant color is pink of course and the back ground is a deep dark greenish blue.

Such a beautiful new chart! Thank you for another lovely SWM, it was great having you as company while trying to get to my first ever full coverage finish. Around 2500 stitches to go now so it's happening! I could never do diagonal or parking or any of that fancy stuff since I stitch in hand with the poking method. I could also never do proper cross country, I like to fill in the stitches in a somewhat orderly fashion to an extent and not leave holes all over, but I do enjoy constantly changing colors and having different colors show up on the fabric. Since I'm extremely lazy with marking my chart I tend to stitch so that I can identify where I am just by looking at the patterns I'm creating with the stitches; it's a bit like doing a puzzle or playing tetris, lol. The marking happens perhaps every other day 😆 But I don't think I could do my way of stitching on something really big and extremely confetti-heavy like a HAED chart or on 25ct lugana. It works on 18ct aida though, hahah.

I love the Happy Village piece you are working on. I have to check into it.i really dont like carrying threads on the back more than 3 or 4 stitches so i have stayed away from Heaven and Earth designs. I am really tempted though.

I’m new to full coverage and have a question for you. The pattern I have does not show any half stitches and yet I’m watching you do all half stitches. Is this called for in your pattern? I’ve watched numerous videos and most of the full coverage stitchers do the same. Is there a reason for this or is there something I’m missing? Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Hi there, in most full coverage patterns, half stitch is an optional choice unless specified. It's a little quicker for huge charts generally. Best thing to do is gather some samples of different count fabric and try it out with 1strand (on very small holes) two strands on 14/16/18 count etc and just see what suits you. You might just prefer a full cross after all, which is totally fine. Hope that helps.

Hello, I absolutely loved your video and it explains diagonal stitching so well. I have question when you get to the end of a diagonal and you still have quite a bit of thread left do you park in the next diagonal or do you end the thread? If the thread does not get ended, and you park in the next stitch on the next diagonal what would you do if now have 2 threads of the same color. I hope that makes sense.
@TheStitchyWitch
@TheStitchyWitch 4 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for the feedback :) I usually do the same at the bottom of the diagonal as elsewhere, if there are already parked threads around I will end it. If there are lots of that symbol on the next diagonal and no parked thread I will probably park it.

I am doing diagonals on a confetti heavy GeckoRouge and am totally ignoring page breaks! Have got it on a scroll frame so just going as far down as will fit on frame and will go the width of the design. Love how this piece is looking! I agree that sticking to the diagonal as you are doing makes it very neat.
