Baby sloth reunited with mum after it was found crying on a beach 🦥 | SWNS

This is the adorable moment a three-fingered sloth was reunited with her baby - after it was found stranded and crying on a beach.
The cub was separated from its mother who had already started to climb its way back up the tree and into the canopy on May 10.
Fortunately, staff from Jaguar Rescue Center in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica spotted what had happened and scooped up the tiny creature.
It was then rushed to the vet for a check up where it was found to be in good shape - before the rescuers hatched a plan to safely reunite mum and baby.
They recorded its cry and played it out to the mother to summon her down, and once she began her descent her precious tot was carefully handed back.
The video of their reunion on Playa Chiquita went viral on Instagram and it now has over 26,000 views.

This is so beautiful. The mom knows she never would've seen her baby again if it weren't for the human because she'd die if she tried to save the baby herself. So she thought her baby was gone forever and then someone brings him home and she just holds him so tightly. ❤️ The joy they both must've felt is unimaginable.

The baby fell from the tree and was crying but due to the noise of the beach the mom could not hear the cries. So the rescuers took the baby and checked it and planned to return it by recording the cries of the baby. When the mom heard it she begin to climb down. It took over 2 hours.

I just don't see how that species ever survived. It's so slow moving and thinking it can't escape forest fires. It can't defend itself against any predator. It can't run away from any predator. It seems to lose it's babies easily. It's just incredible it even exists. You'd think they would never have evolved.

If a sloth baby falls down from it's mother, the mother usually won't go down to get it back, since it's too dangerous and costs too much energy. This one was saved from certain death by these people.

If the baby is more than 6 months old it doesn't need to be reunited with its mother. When the sloth leaves its mom after about six months, it adopts part of its mother’s range, continuing to communicate with the parent through calls.

They recorded the baby crying and then played it loudly. If the mother didn't hear her baby's cries because she was too high up in the trees she apparently heard the amplified cries.
