This was one of the best video tutorials I've ever watched. Your speaking cadence was consistent throughout, and you avoided inserting unnecessary chatter about things your first grade teacher taught you about holding scissors...seriously some tutorials could be half the length if the person only stuck to the task at hand. I watched it all the way through before constructing my bag. Now it's time for me to prep my pattern and fabric pieces, and press "play" again to sew along with you. Well DONE!!!

Hi Rosie, Thanks so much for your videos about the Denver! They are both complete, logical and full of great tips. Love them!! You said you do not like the way your Juki 2010 foot control can snip the thread at unwanted times. I turned my foot control sideways and only use the fat part which is far away from the thread-snipping control. It works great for me-no more unwanted snipping.

TGhank you. Yes...I did a second video on how to add a pocket to the back. In that video I talk about putting on the connector. In the pattern, the connector is the last step, but you can put it on long before making it much easier to install. If you watch the video, I show you when to do it.

@RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I am glad you liked the video! I am using a Juki TL2010Q in the video. It is a step up from a domestic and can handle heavier materials, but it is not an industrial. You can make lots of bag on a domestic machine if you are using lighter weight materials such as quilting cotton fused with a light woven interfacing like SF101 and some fleece. If you keep the interfacing out of the seam allowance it will be even easier to sew on a domestic. Once you start using heavier materials such as vinyl, cork and leather, you may want a heavier duty machine. You can always make a little test sample and to see what your machine can sew through.

The pattern only calls for Pelion SF101 for the main panels. You can use whatever you like. I added the Thermolam Plus in mine because I wanted more structure and I am happy with the result...soft, but not stiff and nice structure.

Other people on the Swoon Patterns Group have also used Thermolam on the Denver and said they liked it. I did not find that it added that much bulk to my seams. I had more issues with bulk giving over the zipper tabs, but my machine still handled it fine. I have a Judi 1541, but I do not like to use it in videos because no everyone has an industrial machine. So, I use my Juki TL2010Q to show that these bags can be done on non-industrials. A regular domestic may have issues though.

Thermolam is another type of fusible fleece. If you live in USA you can buy it from WalMart or Joann, can also get it from Amazon. Pellon product
