There is some debate on why the messer comes about that is one of the proposed theories, though we don't have a definitive answer.
@cheesestyx9452 жыл бұрын
The actual most plausible answer is that the German knife making guild could only make knives but wanted in on the sword guilds customers so they make big knives and the debate was never settled on how big or small knives could be. Eventually the sword guild just saw the knife guild as another customer though and sold just blades to the knife guild cause their blades were better and then the knife guild just made the handle section. Reason why I think this is most plausible is that is wasn't illegal to own a sword in Germany and in some parts and times you were actually required to own some kind of weapon in case they drafted you.

Well in the books he has his silver sword on his horse and his steel sword on him when around humans and non-humans. There is a tale of a man who wore two swords on his back and slayed his opponents with both of them. One day the man got greedy and cocky, whilst pulling out his sword, it hooked together and both swords were pulled out, which caused the sword to fall on his neck killing him in the process, because of this urban legend, the sheathe and the blade were always on a knight’s side

@bladez4794 жыл бұрын
That's a load of bullshit. Helmets are one of the most important pieces of armour for melee combat as a single strike to the head, even a rather weak one can be completely debilitating as the head is such a vulnerable part of the body. Visored helmets like the bascinet and salet were almost always worn in the closed position during melee combat to protect the face from strikes. In fact during duels between fully armoured combatants, one of the most important aspects was wrestling your opponent to the ground such that you could open their visor to attack their face with your dagger. Stop talking out of your ass.

"If you wanna see, breath or move: armor's rough" *meanwhile the internet has people performing gymnastics in full plate to prove the myths about how sluggish it is incorrect* As for the point about seeing and breathing in restraining helmets; I say wear as much as you can bear where the head is concerned, and for the love of everything keep your sword up; it's your head's best armor.

They're commenting on the capacity if a normal human, expert of swordsmanship or not, is placed under that circumstance. Realistically the lone person will die if he/she fights the group head on. Just a reminder so that some silly people don't say "oh, there are twelve armed people looking to kill me there. Geralt can do it, so surely I can take them on if I follow his example."

In the books Geralt got killed by an Angry Mob of peasants, and routinely runs away from any group of soldiers larger than 3 because to him that’s an automaticly lost fight.

@@Kingdomkey123678 He massacred the shit out of the group of 4 assassins in Blood of Elves though, but ended up dying of blood loss if not for help from another human.

@@spearsage this was only a joke I supposed they talked if all of them were on equal condition which would include being human but even in that circumstance the opponent wouldn't be Geralt of Rivia (his circumstances, his decisions, all would be changed)

I like this, most of the focus on the armour being the reason you lived over the movie version of armour making you look pretty as you die in a single strike.

............................................. Literally every single time. geralt has superhuman reflexes. there is no advantage to a human rolling. there is advantage when you have animalistic reflexes. The unrealistic part of that scene is geralt didn't kill his enemies in singular well practiced blows. He's over a hunderd years old at this point, has fought man, beast, and monster, bested elf swordsmen and human alike. a couple of guys in armor can sitll be dangerous if he udnerstimated them. which he never does. he's just slice through them.

You can twirl around to keep people away from you which is something trained in hema. You can roll around to avoid things effectively as well. My example is the 30 foot rule with a knife vs a gun, the dude with the knife will win but if I roll it creates enough distance to shoot knife guy
