Technically wyvern, but yeah. Why were dragons back then such pushovers? I swear, the vast majority of dragons back in the 8-Bit/16-Bit days were wimps.

I remember loving this game back in the day, spent a lot of time with it and eventually completed it by binging it for a whole week in the Xmas holidays of '90. I tried to play it recently and it's awful! I don't know how I had the patience to play it all those years ago. This has satisfied my curiosity of remembering the bosses and ending, so thanks for saving me that pain!

Timestamps 0:34 Frost Wyvern 2:28 Giant Cyclops 3:37 Two-Headed Demon 4:53 Two-Headed Demon Rematch 5:59 Necromancer 7:21 Dark Demon 8:58 Blood Demon 11:30 Grey Demon 13:44 Gold Wyvern 15:00 Red Cyclops (Luther) 16:34 Red Wyvern (Poison Girl) 17:52 Red Two-Headed Demon (Thar) 19:00 Tsarkon 26:31 Ending Wyverns: why does it always feel like dragon(Wyvern, but close enough) bosses in video games are complete pushovers? When you fight the first wyvern, it may seem a little difficult at first because you may not automatically know what it's reads are, but once you figure them out, the first boss is a pushover. Basically, go in as it is adjusting its neck and whack away at the head. Get away when the head reaches the top or the bottom. If you are quick, you can even get it to attack and move back quickly enough to deal some extra damage. Incredibly easy. The only thing I can say is that I sometimes get a little cocky and try to do more damage then I have time to do, and then I get hit, and in my experience, the Wyvern can usually kill you in two or three hits because when it DOES hit, it hits HARD! If you were intelligent, though, this should not be a problem. Despite this, the wyverns are actually not the easiest bosses in the game, but there are three of them and the differences between them are virtually non-existent. Giant Cyclops: Geeze, and I thought the wyverns were pushovers. the Cyclops is another example of the second boss is the easiest syndrome . he shoots lightning from his arms, with the arm farthest from the screen shooting lightning farther than the one that is closer. however, the reeds are so easy that dodging these attacks is not difficult. unlike the wyvern,, the Cyclops doesn't hit very hard either. If anything, I noticed the red Cyclops tends to use the faraway arm more than the gray one, but they are still the easiest boss in the game. Two-Headed Demon: I... don't really have a strategy for this guy. he shoots high and low fireballs. Both can be deflected with the sword, but you're supposed to duck under the high ones. At first, he will shoot the high Fireballs in a rhythmic pattern, but the low Fireball seem to come it completely random. sometimes, both Fireballs will come in a pattern that is impossible to avoid taking damage from them. The only thing I can say is that you are supposed to get close to him, and wail away at him. if you are lucky, he will mostly maintain the same rhythm with his high fireballs and not shoot his low Fireballs very often, But like I said, this boss seems to be luck based. once you do enough damage to him, he will stop using High fireballs. Then you just have to keep flailing your sword until he dies, hoping your sword will deflect any low Fireballs he throws at you. Necromancer: This guy isn't too hard. He will send the skeletons at you and shoot projectiles. Slash away at the skeletons while proceeding forward the best you can. Be sure to duck under the Projectiles, for they will generally do more damage than the skeletons. Once you get close enough to The Necromancer, He's As Good As Dead As long as you remember to continue ducking under projectiles. Flying Demons: like I said, A lot of the bosses in this game are very poorly designed. this boss will Cause you to suffer plenty of cheap deaths if you do not do the correct things at the correct time, which is a flaw with a lot of the bosses in that they expect you to do things a specific way. For example, The Blood Demon will charge backwards if you did not go under him when he did his fake out flying maneuver where he flies backwards slightly before flying forward at the top of the screen. After this, he will fly forwards again and then charge backwards. If he charges backwards, then, well... It was nice knowing you. To keep things simple: ALWAYS Go under them when they fly above. From what I have noticed, the winged demons are gets progressively trickier, but once you figure out the Blood Demon, the gray demon shouldn't be a problem. Tsarkon 2nd form: He is the hardest boss in the game as a final boss should be, but my God is he aggravating. Your job is to go forward and hope he flails his head's about instead of attacking and then slice at is heads before he starts attacking. Whether he attacks or flails his heads a bit seems to be another thing that happens at complete random. Sometimes, the front head will get locked into a state where it will keep attacking, pausing if you go far enough back into the stage, but resuming if you get close enough, and the only way to break him out of the stage is to try and Trigger the other head to attack by going between the fire shot And hopefully getting close enough for the other head to start firing, and then you can resume the match normally. Even then, this boss is tough-as-nails because it is very easy to mess up. You do not have a lot of time to get out of the way when he starts up and attack, so you have to plan everything carefully. Good luck.

I never got that far when I was a kid. Still, after all these years, I am surprised no one had done a Boss video by now. I noticed someone else has a Boss Rush video that they released a few months after mine, and it seems like that person used all the strongest equipment so his video is a quicker watch if you are strapped for time. Unfortunately, I couldn't comment on his video.

@baalfgames5318 Жыл бұрын
I could see that, except for maybe the necromancer. The Wyvern should be able to not only use his neck but also breathe fire projectiles or something. Maybe even ice. The Cyclops can utilize lightning in more ways. The 2 headed demon could utilize different spells besides fire. Maybe have bouncing fireballs or summon demon bats or something. The flying demons already have a good template to work with. They can fly about, breathe fire, and not much would change. Tsarkon could use his heads to breathe two projectiles at a time, and possibly trap the player between his necks while sending strange projectiles between them.

The graphics in the boss battles are awesome! Graphics of 32 bits gen. I've had this cartridge and there was a very useful glitch using a cursed sword to give a great amount of damage exploiting a failure in damage system .
@baalfgames5318 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but I noticed, at least in the Ultimate Genesis Collection version, that the final boss takes this into account, gaining possily infinite life if you use this glitch. Not sure if this happens in the original.

Mostly it was an attempt to make the fight harder. I only really did it for the easy ones, though. The difficulty Spike when it comes to the bosses is pretty bogus. While the wyverns and cyclops's are complete pushovers, the two-headed demons are f****** broken. I was not going to do that for the two-headed demons.

SoV was a great game with an original gameplay for the 90's it just need better graphics, less texts more animations. It looks an ugly classic but it have his own magic ^^. By the way I like to take curse objects and use raphael stick to put stats under 0 to become nearly invincible and bein' able to take down bosses with the bronze sword ^^. Like blue skelettons who gave full of kims ^^
@baalfgames5318 Жыл бұрын
I tried that myself, and it's a pretty easy way to beat most of the game up to the final boss. ...the only problem is it doesn't WORK on the final boss. In my experience, the boss gets infinite health if you use that glitch, at least in the Ultimate Genesis Collection version. It might be different in the original.
@HellTantrumbull3 жыл бұрын
Sadly the game is a case of bad timing when it was made because it came out in 1989 for the Megadrive and then got the english version on the Genesis in 1991 and you can see the result of the bad timing with the boss battles with the severe lack of animations for the hero and the giant bosses and even the see the limits kick in when fighting normal enemies. Even back then when I got the game (happened to be the same year it came to the genesis ^_^;) I liked the idea of how battles were done but had wished more could have been done with the fights. if only the game was made later in the life of the Genesis SegaAM2 could have done more things thanks to bigger carts being used and a better understanding of the system because the console is certainly capable of animating large sprites like the bosses much better than what was done.

I have fond memories of this game but the boss fights aren't as epic as I remember them. Way too simple. SEGA cheaped out on ROM sizes all the time.
@baalfgames53183 жыл бұрын
I also don't get why the bosses are either way too simple and predictable or completely broken. The dragons (technically wyverns) can't even breathe fire. The Cyclops is beaten pretty much the same way as the wyvern, except they're weaker. The Necromancer is a cakewalk once you defeat all his skeletons. ...and yet, the flying demons require very specific movements and if you find yourself behind them, you are dead meat. Tsarkon requires an insane amount of patience, and can't even be killed by maximizing your attack power with the cursed sword glitch (for some reason, they programed an anti-cheating code for him), but the Two-Headed demons? You literally have to get lucky fighting those. And again, why are dragons/wyverns in old games pushovers so often?
