With this music I think about ancient Mesopotamia, when there were Sumerians, Assyrians, Akkadians, and Babylonians.

The photo is from some AI generated art that I made, the statue behind Saddam is Nebuchadnezzar II, who he believed that he was the reincarnation of.
@abu-karz Жыл бұрын
@@imperiorii5781 no he thought that Iraqis were descendants of Assyrians. He would not believe in reincarnation cause he was Muslim

@@abu-karz The Idea of him seeing himself as the reincarnation of king Nebuchadnezzar II is an idea promoted by my family, and I do admit that there isn't any clear evidence that Saddam Hussein believed he was. However, Saddam *did* have a fascination with ancient Mesopotamia and frequently compared himself to the ancient Babylonian king. In particular he saw himself as a modern day builder of Babylon, and he commissioned a number of high profile construction projects in Iraq that were intended to evoke the grandeur of ancient Babylon. For example, he ordered the reconstruction of the Ishtar Gate and the ziggurat at Babylon, an d he built a new palace in the shape of a ziggurat. Saddam also had a number of portraits of himself created that depicted him in the style of ancient Babylonian kings, wearing a beard and a headdress. You can also see depictions of his face alongside the face of Nebuchadnezzar on old coins from the time of his reign. While he had a fascination with ancient Mesopotamia and saw himself as a modern day Babylonian king, it isn't clear that he *actually* believed he was the King's reincarnation I would say.

@@imperiorii5781 yes he was fascinated with the Assyrian-chaldean stuff. He thought mesopotamian Arabs must have been the descendants of Assyrians. There's rumours that Saddam could also speak Kaldani(Chaldean, a Catholic Assyrian dialect). His best friend that worked in his administration was a Chaldean christian named Mikhail Yuhanna (Tariq Aziz) I would say that this was a great move for those who are against him. At least they can now no longer argue that Saddam destroyed the "normal" or previous Iraqi-Assyrian culture Of "bet Nahrain". But Saddam's army did destroy many Assyrian lands which contained rebellious Assyrian groups like the Zowaa Atoraye, NPU, etc.
