Nice guide. One bonus little bonus tidbit of information. There exists a random daily buff you can get from login that's very useful for PVE gearing. It increases your chance of the equipment you identify having a higher fortune level. If you are in no hurry to gear up, you can wait to open/identify your lvl 60 PVE boxes on the day you get this buff. This should help you to get more lvl 60 gear with fortune 1-3 on it, which acts as lvl 61-63 gear in some respects. The only question is whether you're willing to handicap your character for a while for a minor stat gain long term? May not be worth doing since raid content will happen a few weeks after launch.

umm, when i hit student 1 i had basically zero 45 gear..., actually, now that i think about it i had not a single piece of 45 gear

Hmm well that's weird. Through your cultivation and questing you should've gotten 45 and some 50 gear

dont worry i had the same problem, basically you need too keep going til you hit the grasslands, there they will reward you 45 gear. i got student one before that : )

How do you rank up the "combat phase" to be able to purchase the lvl 60/70 PVP gear? I heard certain times of the day you can rank up, but not others. Which mode progresses that?

On your PvP menu, usually in the Battlegrounds you'll be able to rank that up at specific hours. The higher rank you get, the more you'll get. Similar Leaderboard things for games.

Idk why you wouldn't buy the school set gear if it'll statistically make the leveling experience 10x easier until you get 45 gear. It's very inexpensive, about 5 gold in total which you can make back from blood ruvias and tutorials on your cultivation tab in general. Plus let's say you do buy it and any weapon/armor you get under 40 while leveling can be sold for gold or used for a lot of pet energy early on

It doesn't make it easier really, your stats in your class won't magically increase. Why spend the gold on not so very good gear, when you might as well save up, along with your Sealstones, get better gear with your dungeons and quest line and then you will have more than enough gold to deal with the enchanting and costs that come associated with it. You COULD go with the 40 if you really want, in the long run sure it's gold you could easily make back, but when using the gear versus the gear you have, only your associated stats on your level and your skills will really affect the outcome. I tried both methods with a berserker in the last Beta, it was more balanced going with gear you are giving up, then using said gear for pet energy as you move on to other sets.

The set gives you better attributes than, lets say, the level 10 gear you start off with and even gear score level 30 the more you level ahead. Once you start getting 45 gear from quest, that's when it'll be a nuisance. Idk what makes the set not so good if it has higher gear score meaing higher damage and more protective armor. Unless you're referring to it not having an option to upgrade? (unlike dungeon and quest gear which does) If that's the case then you shouldn't be upgrading gear while leveling anyway because you would still have to save your sealstones, which is a point you brought up that I agree with. I can see where you're coming from about balance and all but idk if I would want to hinder my boost in damage and survivability early on just to save 5 or so extra gold. Maybe I would have to try both methods as well on my alt when the game comes out in less than a week from now. Great video tho

Doing your quests you can get full 45 gear, even 50 gear tbh.

Once you do your Turquoise Lantern cultivation quest, I believe it was, you'll get it. Usually around the 30s level.

Does the gear affect your appearance? I know having them just for stats is an eastern MMO thing but it's kind of a turn off.

Uh well, assuming you have zero apperance cosmetics, yes. Your gear will look different as you get different pieces. You can also just get cosmetics to put it over your gear, simply to look different, or you can transmog gear. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking.
