Speaking as someone who was a musician in this scene back then- mental illness was encouraged and celebrated. We were all fucked up and indulging in it. I guess it was therapeutic to get that energy out through music - for a time. Eventually being that angry and bitter made me worse. I’ve since found much healthier ways to cope with life

Can’t believe it’s been ten years. I remember, I just got my drivers license and I almost drove 100miles by myself, cause none of my friends were into this kind of music, just to see them play in the tiniest club venue with barely fifty people there. Probably the best night of my life. Screaming at the top of my lungs, flailing my arms and legs and banging my head. I spend hours after the gig talking to Tyler about music and all kinds of shit.
