I'm thinking this as well. He knew where to find them and when. Brooklyn is the only one who knows how they all think and would then have the best educated guess as to their next moves. Maybe Mateo left out a few details of that night with Brooklyn, or she contacted him soon after.

For everyone who has seen Camp Cretecous season 1, I see him as a similar character to the birthday hat guy. Not evil but he wants to survive and if his kids are real (I think he said he had kids) they could be off screen leverage. I think overall his intentions won't be evil but he will end up getting the campers in a trap as a reward for life or freedom.

The one thing I do not understand is HOW he saved the kids at the DPW when he QUIT. He stated that he had already quit when explaining to Darius and Kenji. So how did he even have access to the area, let alone the vehicles?

Also if you listen closely in that scene where Darius and Kenji are watching the video of Brooklyn getting chased by the allosaurus I think you can hear some argument happening from a distance and Mateo was not to far away from her Also Mateo explains that he has a daughter that is great with cell phones maybe the daughter is secretly the girlfriend of Ben keeping tabs on them and is the one doing the searching

Honestly? I think he might be one of Brooklyn’s dads (she confirmed she has two in CC). I believe Brooklyn is the broker and Mateo keeps talking about his “little girl”. He keeps mentioning that he’s doing everything for her basically. It’d make sense if things were being reported to her then she can deploy her dad. Idk, I could see Mateo being evil but I think he’d be too goofy to do so. Like imagine that guy making an “evil face”. Just no.

If Mateo was the bad guy and in cahots with doing shady stuff, then how would saving the campers benefit him? He could've continued on acting like nothing happened after Brooklyn's "death" and continued to be a corrupt dude in the DPW leading to the rest of Nublar 6 to die. But no, he deliberately tracked these campers (with the help of his daughter) and went out of his way to save them, with a very likely chance he could've been seriously hurt or even killed. Personally, I think Mateo's character is meant to show that not everyone who takes these "bribes" aren't necessarily bad/greedy people. Sometimes even the best of people have to defy the system to make the best of a situation, and in Mateo'a case his daughter's tuition. So if they make him a villain, I'm not going to be happy because I personally want to see more active outside allies for the campers, it actually builds tension in the show, and would seem to be making him a villian just to make him a villain. Also, as for the convenience of his rescues... it's a kids a show.

I know this is off topic, but am I the only one who is confused as to why the triceratops hasn’t been featured in all 5 seasons of camp Cretaceous and presumably won’t be in chaos theory. It’s just strange that one of the only four dinosaurs to appear in every film but it’s no where to be found in either in the Netflix shows.

I have always been a fan of Jurassic World and when camp cretaceous came out I got so excited I probably watched camp Cretaceous at least 4 times and when I heard that there was another series coming out based on camp Cretaceous I got so happy. Mateo’s casting is real funny cause its Eugene Cordero. This guy is in everything since the New 10s & was even in Kong: Skull Island. But hes more known for playing adorkable characters like the guy in Loki or Rutherford on Star Trek: Lower Decks. But the neater thing: Eugene Cordero was in The Office, Parks & Recreation, Brooklyn 99, and The Good Place in multiple background comedic roles. All these shows were produced by NBC which is part of NBC-Universal aka cousin companies with Universal who are in charge of the Jurassic Franchise. And Cordero isnt the first but the latest of several actors with comedic backgrounds in Jurassic after Andrew Buckley, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson, Lauren Lapkus, & of course most famously on Parks and Recreation: Chris Pratt. Its nice to see the coincidental tradition continue.

"Good" and "Bad" may be very relative and simplistic in Jurassic World as these are in our worlds. Our heroes opening cages and sabotaging efforts to control and contain these animals may be seen as good guys by us, the audience, but at the other side someone may get eaten or squashed by these animals just set free. In a Jurassic World there will those who want to eradicate all dino's, those who want the free and tolerated despite the damage to our ecosystem and human world, and finally those who want to contain and control these animals to keep each side "safe". There might not be good and bad sides with this problem.
