10:57 is one of the smartest fucking baits I've ever seen; when you break off a tether before you grab ledge it doesn't count as a full ledge grab so you can regrab with invincibility, but Leo knew Maister was panicking and fishing for a kill so he baited him into trying to punish with dsmash and then straight up killed him for it. I had no idea Byleth up B could spike an onstage opponent from ledge like that.

He's only played him with Joker and Byleth offline, though. Byleth wins this matchup despite the commentator immediately claiming G&W wins just because maister was edgetrapping him well. G&W losses to mid-range characters that aren't projectile based(so basically swordies in general). Joker is either even or slightly wins this match-up. If Leo messed around and pulled out his Mewtwo Maister would likely destroy it.

Not sure if Byleth is a actual high tier character or if Leo just makes Byleth look high tier, or possibly both. One thing I do notice though is how most of the Ultimate chars are so good that they can do a relatively good job of checking each other, with a few exceptions like Mac or Gannon. I wouldn’t even say Ultimate is balanced in a traditional sense, as there are a ton of broken moves, abilities, and characters. However, I do say that on average the best of Ultimate is no were near as good as the best of Melee, Brawl, or Smash 4 chars

To put Leo’s skill into perspective, this was a ridiculously stacked, $1600 grand prize tournament with many of the best Ultimate players in the world, including Maister, Chag, Sonix, and Sparg0. Is Leo sticking with Byleth? :/ I was excited for in person stuff to come back to see his Joker again. Byleth is not as fun to watch to me

its not like he said hes dropping Joker, but he says all the time that he loves Byleth and has a lot of fun playing him. He'll likely use Byleth for fun in matches he thinks he can win with the character, and Joker when he needs to(AlanDiss forced him to bring out Joker earlier in this event for instance). So I wouldnt expect to see much Byleth once majors start gaining serious momentum again and Leo finds himself going up against players like Marss and Tweek again
