Good information there Jordan. At the rear, you could replace the Forester SG shocks to Outback BG shocks (KYB), they have the lower spring perch 10mm higher so you don't need the saggy butt spacer and the shaft is thicker too, 25mm versus 22mm for the SG.

So in the front regular Subaru forester sf shocks with normal springs, and in the rear Subaru Outback BG shocks with either a stronger forester sf spring or a stock forester sf spring? I am currently running stock old Subaru forester sf shocks with Ironman lift springs, gave me a bit of a lift. And the shocks are a bit stiffer, but i like stiff suspension. And i noticed that inside the socks there is also a spring that compresses when the shock gets fully extended, and so preventing that you get a hars feel on the end of the shock traffel.

Thanks for the video! Actually I lifted my forester with a 2 inches front and 2.5 inches back kit. This arrangement was recommend by Subie Lift Oz if you were to tow or load your car like a CMF :)...plus added 4 standard length HD Spring for added stiffness (I tow so it is a good thing), note that my HD springs are 1.5cm taller than the standard touring one. The main issue was with the CV boots, good Lord 😭...the factory fitted boots have been shredded in a couples of weeks especially the front, the new one (slightly longer than stock in order to take the narrowed angle create by the lighting). The front boots pop out yesterday after Less than 3 weeks driving like granny in Sydney traffic... After contacted Matt from SLOz (he came back to me within 30mn so good on him) and he said quote: It sounds like the front inner CVs have popped out, very common with the SG Forester. He has to push the CV back in. Unquote I guess I need to talk to the mechanic on Monday and negotiate the bill as I warm him about those issues...
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 4 жыл бұрын
wow, bad stuff for the CV poping out! I never had that happen. For the CV boots, my stock ones also directly cracked after the lift. After that I changed them with other Subaru OEM one and so far so good ! For CV, CV boots ... nothing's better than genuine Subaru parts ;)

another tip is use the SG rear brake flexi hoses which go straight to wheel cylinder and get rid of the short steel line . SG strut has slotted brake line fixing bracket which makes lot of suspension work a little simpler as don't need split line at bracket like the SF design (although easy modify the SF strut bracket) Keep up the good work ... Thanks for doing that video. I was thinking about putting spacers in my SF Forester. But then I thought that getting new springs and shocks would be much better. Thanks for the tips in SG struts on the back. Why do you say to uses standard height struts/springs then and use spacers? Some countries and states have made using spacers illegal. I would have thought that using a dedicated raised height spring/shock/strut would be safer and much better that using spacers.
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 4 жыл бұрын
Raised springs are not good for your struts because it's extended to the max. You also loose flex because you don't have up travel anymore and they are too stiff to let your suspension work. And they often give you a harsh ride. Spacers are simple en easy to install 👍 but you are right, they can be illegal in some states /countries...

hello Jordan, Again a very nice video, but there are some things I like to say. first, the lift kit doesnt give you any extra ground clearance. Only bigger wheels and tyres do so. Longer struts and longer springs gives you more comfort as spacers. So if you put in spacers on top of your struts, you just higher the car, but dont make the suspencion more capable. We call that boulevard lift. so you need a complete new set of springs and struts. The only way you can have the best setup. Unfortunally there is no standard suspecion set for the Forester. You could go to Reiger suspencion, but hey, you can buy a jeep for that amount of money I guess reigersuspension.com/rallyraid2/ So, for you, you did the best which is possible. And I hope you will find no problems what so ever onb your trips.

Subaru is a front and back independent suspension so the lift kit helps with ground clearence always.

@@leeloo21231234 True, I didnt consider that part. So yes, it is true. Still, bigger wheels are the way to get bigger clearance. But with independant suspencion it is true that that will work as well.
