Reflecting on what Uri said whether Germany will reverse its policy regarding shutting down reactors "...and how much damage will have been done by then?" He was spot on. Here we are 2023 deep in an energy crisis which could have been entirely avoided if only Germany and countries with similar energy policies would have bet on nuclear instead of intermittent sources.

I know this might sound silly but if people don't like the words nuclear, and radiation, and radioactive, and reactor so much then why don't we just stop using those words when talking about this technology? Here's some examples of what I mean: instead of calling these Thorium Molten Salt Reactors why don't we call them Thorium Molten Salt Power Systems or Thorium Molten Salt Energy Systems? Instead of calling these things nuclear powered why don't we call them geothermal powered (which according to Kirk Sorensen is actually technically accurate since Geothermal gets a lot of it's heat from the decay of Thorium inside the earth). Instead of saying we need to have redundant systems to contain the radiation we say we need to have redundant systems to contain the high levels of energy or heat. I mean if the major problem with this tech is political and based in public opinion then why don't we just use a classic politician move and just tell people exactly what they want to hear and avoid telling them what they don't want to hear? I mean honestly which sounds better to you: Some American Scientist from Tennessee figured out how to make radioactive nuclear power in a way that is less likely to meltdown and explode than other more dangerous forms of nuclear power. Or Some American Scientist from Tennessee figured out how to make geothermal power portable, safe, and self sustaining. Both statements are technically accurate and are discussing the exact same technology but which one sounds nicer and which one makes you feel better? Like I said, I know this solution is kind of stupid, but let's face it, the majority of people are kind of stupid and if we have to coddle them and hold their hands, and treat them like children and tell them a nice little story about how a man from Nantucket put some lava in a pot and with a little hard work, ingenuity, and a couple magic stones, he was able to make energy, and food, and water, and medicine, and was able to kill cancer and save lives and make the world a safer brighter cleaner place for everyone and how he used his magic pot to retire himself and his family so they never had to work again and they all lived happily ever after with their puppies and kittens and rainbows then why not just tell them that stupid ass story so we can put their dumb asses to bed and get to work.
