Pink Floyd should have stayed here right where Syd had them with this one, I love Pink Floyd but post Barrett of course I love it too but they are essentially 2 different bands. Syd gave them a bit of upbeat stuff like this and that is just missing .. oh dear RIP Syd I know you are waiting for us get the songs ready brother
@johnhouse99833 жыл бұрын
I've always maintained that Floyd given time could've easily functioned as a five piece band and Syd & David could've just taken turns on lead guitar.
@Sandwich134552 жыл бұрын
Can you please stay on the track!
@JamesFrick11 ай бұрын
Yes, the upbeat stuff really went missing after Syd left. When he was in the studio that last time after he'd left (when they were recording "Shine On") he told them he thought it "sounded old". The newer Floyd really does sound old compared to the "Syd Floyd". "The Wall" just sounds morbid if you ask me. Like being forced to listen to a fucking funeral over and over again.
@williamabbott943711 ай бұрын
It all just had to be this way. Floyd didn't begin to rise to Syd's level until Meddle. Syd couldn't have occupied Waters/Gilmore Floyd, nor vice versa. This all happened because roommates Syd was living with were dosing Syd with acid unbeknownst to him. Storm was one of them.

I used to ponder those things, but I came to the conclusion that he just liked the ways certain words sounded together rhythmically even if they were mostly nonsensical. The song Octopus has a lot of memorable lyrics. I always liked “grasshopper green herbarian band, and the tune they play is ‘in us confide’. “ I still wonder if was a specific meaning behind that sometimes.

Are those official or ripped from some lyric webpage? My simple contention is the line 'seems to be all and it's Rosey it's a beautiful day' The lyrics would flow better and make more sense of 'and' was 'on'

@@INTERpEST no no no ..not the keyboarder Rick Wright...the singer songwritter Syd Barrett....he named and formed Pink Floyd (after two of his favourite poets Mr. Floyd and Mr. pink) Syd wrote ALL of Piper ..and a couple of Floyds early hit singles..got rich and famous..didnt like it...then dropped out/kicked out/left the band in late 1968 ..then went solo and wrote all of Madcap and Barrett albums and 40+ more singles some are better then others ..many are very good ..now you know regards john... some

@@MADCAP.R.I.P Very kind, thank You very much. No, sorry, my English is so bad. I meant, according to Mr. Wright it just took one weekend Syd to get totally screwed and in his opinion that was because somehow he completely (was) overdosed. So, according to Your Kind explanation and as answer to my actual question, lots of the Solosongs of Syd‘s are written after his brainchange, right? And some of the songs are older than Piper, right? Of course i sucked in every visual interview (cheers to Mr. Edginton(?)) i could find and it were Mr. Wright and Mr. Shirley giving the closest explanations on that phase and the solo songs. Take care 🌳
