To add conjecture to this presumption: a candidate for the title ‘In Us Confide’ is the hymn ‘A Mighty Fortress is our God’, which was written by Martin Luther, inspired by Psalm 46. I would say it depends on the depth you wish to go. It's a metaphor obviously and at it's first level it's the fairground ride but he may well be comparing that to how he sees life. I think we should take from the song what works best for us. Given time the truth contained within his work seems to penetrate the soul, in a good way. For me he was a good bloke.

Mr Barrett wasn't mad!Rodger waters talks a lot of nonsense,and kicked Syd out of his own band.he later tried doing the same with the remaining 3 members but a judge told him he wasn't Mr pink Floyd and Syd had named the band.so in a way Syd had the last laugh.
