24 hour racing is without a doubt, one of the purest and most grassroots way to enjoy mountain bike racing. You hang you with your friends, you eat weird food, you stay up all night and watch the sunrise, and in between all that, you hammer the pedals pretty hard. And so, if we’re going to race a 24 hour race, we decided to do so in the purest, most grassroots category - which is to say, a 4-man single speed team. And I do mean, man - since this isn’t an officially co-ed category, most of the teams are all men. As a 50% female team, we will have our work cut out for us to compete. But Lo and I aren’t ones to be intimidated by of a bunch of dudes with itty bitty cogs and we will be bringing our a-game.

Lol. Now thats entertainment!! Congratulations on the podium. Joe braking for fireball is priceless! 😂 Lo's commentary keeps me rolling. 😂 I sure am glad y'all found Joe's bike, that would have been a bag of suck bigtime. Anyway, great job to all four of you. Keep rollin. Btw. The outfits were simply fabulous!! 😂

Hey guys just sending a quick thank you for your inspiring channel. At 43 years old I completed my first mountain bike race today. I was inspired by watching you guys and the work that you put into each race. 1 year in the making riding at night in the snow on the local trails to get me into shape. The goal was to finish the expert level ride and I did that, I wasn't even the last rider in, so that is a victory. Keep up the good work.

Totally fun video. Curious on a couple of things- 1) nutrition- with eating nothing but carbs won't your body eventually want to use some muscle or it will rely purely on those carbs for energy? 2) are you allowed to change your gearing mid-race. For example, if, after the first lap, you didn't like your set-up, can you change your rear gear?? 3) No aero effect when riding behind someone when being towed? Shouldn't there be? 4) and finally... how did the OUTBOUND lights hold up? I love the things, but curious on your thoughts. Thanks, guys!
@sydandmacky
@sydandmacky 6 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the great questions. 1. As long as you keep replenishing your glycogen stores (by eating carbs), your body will keep burning glycogen. Our bodies really like burning glycogen compared to trying to convert amino acids to glucose (basically catabolizing muscle), which is a harder process. Typically when someone says they are bonking, this is what is happening -- glycogen stores are gone and body is trying to find energy anyway it can. Once the race is over , however, it becomes really important to get enough protein for muscle repair. 2. Yes you can change your gear if you want to! 3. There is definitely an aero effect, that's why it's so helpful! It's not quite as dramatic as on the road, but it still helps. 4. We love the outbound lights! Macky's only ran out of charge because we didn't realize our battery block had died. Generally speaking there was plenty of time to charge them between laps.
