Everyone seems to be stepping up their game this year. Your videos just keep getting better and better. I thought this one was five-star excellent. I can't wait to see how the rest of this year unfolds. This is great fun to watch. p.s. I thought I was way too tired to go riding this evening, but after watching your magical video, I went strait for my bike. Then, after returning from a great sunset ride, I watched your video again. Fairlee seems to be way-cool! I'd like to know more about her story, and her progression as a racer. Thanks for the video. The Adventure Continues...

Loved this video! Totally rockin' the family thing. My wife and I have climbed Mount Elbert, the incline in Manitou. We've done ultra marathons and a 70.3 Ironman. She won't have anything to do with a mountain bike, but would absolutely love hiking those mountains. My 29er XC has been given a bit of mechanical/upgrade love this season but not a lot of attention. Need to ride more. Thanks for the inspiration.

Damn....I just realized that I'm now fully addicted to watching S&M videos.....and I especially like watching "Pops", Syd's Dad, ride....well because I'm an old goat too....my very first race was at Snow Summit in in Big Bear California....I actually got 2nd in my very first race!! I thought something was wrong when I read the results that never came out until you check the NORBA race site to find out where you placed. My second race I actually won! Of course this was not the Pro class ...it was beginner class....you gotta start somewhere.....and now I have my first new bike since thew 90's and it's got a battery! I hope to race the Sea Otter this coming Spring...in the new eBike Class! I have done Porcupine Rim before as me a couple buddies traveled to Moab in. October for their Halloween celebration! I've watched so many S&M vids that it's like I know you guys a little bit! I'm glad your marriage really was not on the line for Moab! I'm looking forward to getting my "Be More Awesome" jersey this year! Congrats again on getting your new House...is it really in Arkansas ...the new Mt Bike capitol of the US! Have you guys ever raced Mammoth Mt? Cresting 11,000 ft literally sucks the air right out of your lungs! I did not know if Brian was a competitor of KZbin channels for you guys...he's the only other racer I have watched that when watching his rides, the guys talks, makes noises more than Macky does!

Going to try my first race this year...hopefully. Been biking since the early 90's, but have never done a race. I started to train for racing on road bikes, but moved before I could start. Going to try and do an XC one and a mini enduro. I'm hoping my RA doesn't give me problems on either one. This looks like a lot of fun, though! Going to ride in Moab later this year! Yay!

Seems like you guys could use a full sus ebike for your pre rides and track practice. Might save some energy for race day
@sydandmacky5 жыл бұрын
Some racers tried that at some EWS events but then they disallowed it. And in Moab you aren't allowed to ride ebikes on most trails. But it's certainly an idea!
@allenjanes59765 жыл бұрын
@@sydandmacky good to know. Thanks a bunch
@sydandmacky5 жыл бұрын
Also for this race we actually wanted to be tired going into it, because we're doing an 8 day race in July so this is training! But ebikes definitely make sense in some scenarios 😊
@allenjanes59765 жыл бұрын
@@sydandmacky yeah that makes total sense. But I hadn't thought about ebikes becoming disallowed on trails. My wife has a Trek hardtail ebike that she occasionally rides. I have a carbon stumpjumper that I race in the north west epic xc series up here in the north west. Was actually thinking of getting a full sus ebike to preride the courses several days before to race day. Probably won't, now that I know they might not be allowed. Thanks again for the info.

@sydandmacky5 жыл бұрын
We were riding 130mm 29ers, so a "small" Enduro bike but definitely not a pure xc bike. We did some finagling to lighten them up and they ended up being pretty good bikes for this race because we were able to absolutely obliterate people on the technical bits 😂😂😂 but for a less techy xc they would be overkill

Do you descend differently, consciously or unconsciously, in a xc race versus enduro due to different tires, bikes, energy required, or whatever?

Yup, definitely backed it down a bit due to lighter wheels/tires, no knee pads and not getting to recover after the climb. We still made up a lot of time on people though!
