I still miss seeing Mel on YT. Her makeup aesthetic was very different from mine, but I loved her personality and lovingly positive attitude. It says a lot about her and Sydney Grace that they are paying tribute to her even a year or more after her passing.

Mel definitely did her color story way before ND came up with this Retro. My opinion is someone at ND saw the Mel bundle LOL. I think I'll like Mel's version better because of the extra mattes (brown and green) and looks like you can get a deeper outer corner. Both are lovely though.

No, Retro Glam is supposed to be the requested Midi Retro everyone, including Mel, asked for. So it looks like mini retro. And you can clearly see that many shades are not similar.

i go to sleep to mel’s channel every night and it’s comforting to wake up to her voice, because i miss her SOOOO MUCH. she was such a great friend and youtube hasn’t been the same since she passed away. there hasn’t been a day that i haven’t thought about her children and family. i reallllly want to order this bundle because i remember watching her video on it and completely falling in love with the shades that she chose. they’re absolute perfection. mel was an angel here on earth and she’s definitely an angel up in heaven, and every time i see a butterfly, i take it as a little sign from up above. 💚💚💚

I never watched Mel’s YT channel when she was alive but somehow I started watching her after her passing without me knowing she was angel, when I found out I felt for her I even cried… she passed when I was battling encephalitis so it made me think that I could have been me too but it happened to her . I passed on Natasha and bought the Sydney Grace bundle instead. I find the similarities fascinating and don’t think anyone would need both. Mel was a color genius! I DID order a large Sydney Grace empty palette for the shadows and….it was for 48 shadows….sooooo since I only have Tiny Marvels I ordered enough singles that I felt were complimentary to fill er up. Very nice looks! SG shadows are such good quality, I think that's why I am such a huge fan of them. Being that my eyes are sensitive to carmine that eliminates a lot of popular brands for me (ND, PM, ABH and others), most of SG shadows are vegan (there are a few that are not but they list them on the website), they are cruelty free, reasonably priced for the quality, made in the USA and don't contain talc! Most importantly, they just work well on my almost 50 year old eyelids, and they don't move until I wash it off. Thanks for doing this video! I don't think SG gets enough attention, them releasing this bundle and the fact that they have been so overwhelmed with orders will definitely help!

Of course you did Mel's 🕊🕊🕊 palette justice 👍👍👍 I love that Mel's palette includes the more peachy toned shades rather than the definite pinks in the ND one. Mel's palette is so well balanced and comprehensive, whereas (in my very humble opinion) the ND one is a bit of a muddle - maybe it's just the layout though. *** Watching any of Mel's vids (#INCLUDING #ALL #THE #ADVERTS) generates much needed funds for her children. I think which one is better depends on your skin color/undertone. Mel's has a better dark to light range, but it leans warmer and it's not as muted. Those tan matte transition shades would be straight up orange on me. As someone who is muted and cool, the ND palette works for me better, I'll just have to supplement for times I want a really dark outer corner. And that's fine because I already have the appropriate shades in my collection. Thanks for making a comparison video between them!

Great comparison video, was waiting to see how these 2 compare to each other. I love now your looks turned out, especially the 2nd look! I brought the ND palette during the sale, but I really prefer the Sydney Grace deeper mattes. May pick up some of Sydney Grace shadows during Black Friday.

I ordered the Sydney Grace 'In Mel's Memory' palette before I even knew the ND Retro Glam palette was coming out then, of course, I bought it too because I could pick it up at Sephora - SG palette hasn't even shipped yet. BUT, I was eager to see if I bought two of the same palette with just a few additional shades and appreciate your comparison so I know they are different enough for me to justify having both. :) GREAT video, Steff! I always sing Mel’s praises! Truly a beautiful woman inside and out. She wasn’t my friend because I didn’t know her personally, and was only subscribed to her. But she had a lot of integrity and a positive light that shined. I thought I had more of these shades, but I think I only have a few. My brain is playing tricks on me again. 😂 I hope they keep it around permanently or at least a couple of years. I’d be interested in getting it for Black Friday. ❤❤❤

Thank you for this video! I already had three of the singles in Sydney Grace's In Mel's Memory Bundle, so I ordered the remaining shades as singles, except for Honeydew, which was out of stock as a single. I absolutely love Sydney Grace's eyeshadow formula. They are so blendable, work incredibly well on mature eyelids, and present remarkable and beautiful looks. I do agree that a deeper green would be a nice addition to this bundle, and since I could not get Honeydew, which is the lighter green matte, I'm going to take another Sydney Grace matte that I already have, called Thrilled, and insert that into the palette containing this bundle. It's a really deep teal-green matte that I think will work nicely. While I think the Natasha Denona Retro Glam is quite pretty, I feel the Sydney Grace bundle provides more depth and variety. I did not know of Mel Thompson until I ran across Angelica Nyqvist's channel and heard her talk about Mel Thompson. I've since been going back and watching Mel's videos, and I wish I did know of her when she was alive. What a truly talented, beautiful person. I was very happy to have been able to purchase shadows that represent her vision and creativity. Thank you again for providing us with a thorough comparison of the two palettes.

Hey beautiful, ND does look like the SG palette & that is awesome they released the shades as singles. I love this is in memory of Mel. I love that you swatched them & compared to the ND palette. The one pink shades is very similar. Commission is beautiful. I think that is my fave shade with Golden rose. Also I love your nail color. Look 1 is very pretty & soft & I love the green with the brown. The second look with the pink & brown is pretty too. Look 3 is stunning & it is definitely my fave. FW & have a great day

It appears that the Sidney Grace shades are more true-to-pan colors whereas I was surprised at what some of the ND shades actually looked like in swatches. I prefer the range of depth and the shimmers of the Sidney Grace shadows. Absolutely beautiful looks as always Steff!

It's funny to think how everyone was so disappointed with the colour story of the Retro midi when it came out last year but then it ended up on or close to the top of everyone's 2021 best of list, while most people now seem to not really like the Retro Glam after all. Thank you for the prompt review! I ended up ordering Mel's bundle, my first ever SG purchase. I'm excited, the shades look really beautiful, even though I actually like the ND as well.

Thank you for doing this video. I have never bought anything from Sydney Grace, but when I saw they did Mel's bundle I jumped on it! Mel's color story is far better than the ND retro glam (IMO), and the quality is just as good if not better. I have definitely been missing out on the Sydney Grace shadows and I am now a fan. The looks you did are gorgeous. My favorite is the brown with the pink shimmer.

Give Me Glow has nice magnetic palettes. I got a huge one of theirs that holds like 90 26mm eyeshadows last Black Friday lol they actually sell a bigger one, but I didn't need a palette that hold 120 shadows 😂 Adept sells similar ones too, but I only own Cozzette, Give Me Glow, ColourPop & Shop Miss A magnetic palettes.

I definitely like Mel’s version better because it has the darker matte shades that I need to do a look. I swapped out three shades from ND’s Retro Glam with three darker matte shades from other ND midi palettes and did a beautiful look today that I really loved and that I received a lot of complements on. Mel’s vision was really spot on. The $60 bundle was at a discounted price until 11/14 I think. The individual shades are usually more. $5 plus for mattes and $6 plus for shimmers. So it would be a much more expensive palette at full price.
