Respect all around. She's not a traitor. Smh. She's an amazing and inspiring woman who went after her dreams. Her relationship with her mother is admirable. Nothing but love~

USWNT No matter what sport you watch you will have your favorites. She is entertaining to watch, more so then any of the Canadians. She is fast, gets bounced around a lot but keeps going on the field.
@JdDiehl9 жыл бұрын
how could they call her a traitor when she never even played for the Canadian Women's National team and never played for a club in Canada. jeez those Canadians that teased her and called her names really don't have any logic
@msung11269 жыл бұрын
Jd Dehl Aaaaactually, she played U-19 (now U-20) for the Canadians. She also played for the Vancouver Whitecaps women's team so you're actually wrong on both counts. From a Canadian standpoint, it's frustrating to watch good players leave to play for other countries. I can't say that I fault her for wanting to be playing for the best team she can, but I don't think she would be getting the amount of hate she does now if she hadn't gone through the Canadian system as a youth player prior to capping for the USWNT. What's done is done though, she made the decision that was best for her career. I think this is more of a reflection on FIFA's rules (or lack thereof) on switching nationalities as a youth player.

International sports should be about playing for your country, whether it is the best team or not. Leroux adopted the US so she could play on the "best" team in the world. She didn't think about building a legacy in her own country. Instead she opted to adopt a new country to inherit one already established. That's why it didn't sit well with Canadians. Oh well life goes on. Leroux is forgotten up here, and will also be forgotten in the US as well.

she decided to play for the us because she was bullied in canada
@visforvendetta13268 жыл бұрын
Josie Zoller so let me get this straight. Leroux was bullied, by a few individuals while growing up in Vancouver and that was her only reason for immigrating to another country? And this does not sound crazy to you?
@josie-ge5iv8 жыл бұрын
she played for the u 20 or something canwnt, she was bullied probably because she had dual citizenship usa, and canada, and idk. if you ever meet sydney, ask her that question, and report back to me. i know as much as you do

I know she would have played to the utmost of her ability regardless of what country she represented. Since she had an American father and a Canadian mother I can't say she "sold out" necessarily. If both parents were Canadian, maybe. Anyways I know she doesn't have a close relationship with her father but I hope things change for the better. She's talented, beautiful and has heart. What more could a father ask for?
@Uglyweezer9 жыл бұрын
She definitely sold out

colaboy29 And you would know that, because you, apparently, know her personally, and are in a position to make a judgment like that.

colaboy29 Okay so if in your stupid fucked up little mind, some one who leave's there home countery to make a better life for them selfs is a sell out. well if your from the usa i just have one thing to say. GIVE THE MEXICANS THE LAND YOU PEOPLE STOLLE FROM US BACK!!!
@Uglyweezer9 жыл бұрын
Megs Andrade why are you so angry? I never said people who leave their countries for better lives are sellouts.

glad she plays for the US but i always think it's better to play for the country you were born and raised in. Canada isn't bad.

...there are SO many professional athletes that were either born in the USA or raised, from Maria Sharapova to Giuseppe Rossi, that play for another country, so we (USA), will gladly take a couple for us....thanks Syd...

Yea she did the right thing no offense but Canada is nothing really a world team in anything except Olympic events and hockey Don't even get me started about how bad Canada is with Futbol of a world class level, they can't even beat third world countries
@agriculturaltrading9 жыл бұрын
The MNT didn't look THAT bad this last WC qualifiers.... they had moments of brilliance... there were definitely some teams at the world cup finals that shouldn't have been there....

America isn't really good at any world sports outside of the Olympics and it's own country too. Who in the world plays basket ball, baseball, or football? America is the best at these sports, but no one in the world gives a damn because there is little interest outside of America anyways. The only other team sport is soccer, which America is meh compared to other countries. True Canada is worse, but when was international play ever about playing on the best team? The best team in soccer isn't even represented by a country. Barcelona could probably beat any international team in the world. So yeah don't get amateur and pro teams mixed up.
@marlonmoncrieffe07287 жыл бұрын
Vis Forvendetta What's a 'world sport'? There's soccer and maybe cricket but that's about it. Actually, basketball (also called netball) is very popular worldwide.

Well it's the stupid nationalism, did anyone expect anything else? Albert Einstein was one of the few people to realize how crazy and ridiculous nationalism is. Dividing humanity on this tiny little pale blue dot into small islands in this unimaginably vast universe.
