Thanks very much for the wonderful updates on the shelters and new trams. I need to get in there, soon to check them out. Always like catching the lowering and raising of the Pantographs at Town Hall. Should get some of my ancient testing times with the pantograph raising and dropping back in testing ays.

Informative vlog as always, thanks for the detail. But I must say what is with the scrawny bus shelters provided for the L1, why bother, only seating for two!! Yet George St gets the Rolls Royce of shelters.

Testing in the Parramatta area will commence in the first half of 2024 (slowly at first, in numbers and speed). The Carlingford section - maybe already testing, or soon to be. I couldn't find anything more specific than that. The line is expected to open in the middle of 2024.

Are the ridership numbers high enough to validate the use of double sets on the L2/L3 lines? Surely, in off-peak hours single units would be just as good and probably faster.

The short answer is yes - the L2/L3 are often packed at lunchtime in the CBD, and are also well used on the UNSW run. Apparently about 110k-130k people are using the line every day. So it probably does justify the double up

enjoying your train and light rail videos. Here's something you could check out and I bet not many locals know this. Go up to Town Hall light rail and you'll see no electrical overhead wires. The trams lower their stanchions and run on battery from TH to Circular Quay. So the L1/L2 light rails have on board rechargable batteries. Regarding the new shelters etc, there were perfectly good shelters, seating etc already in situ. Why they had to change them at quite some expense I don't know. I guess the contract with JCDecaux expired, and they recovered all the structures.

No. There aren't traction batteries in either the L1 or L2 trams. The Citadis sets seceive power from the track when there is no catenary.

Rubbish. Where is the seating. I’ve waited at capitol square for 20mins with 30 or so others in the stinking heat. Enough seating for 4 people. Garbage.
