Calling it Sydney Lunar New Year is politically correct and an attempt to be inclusive yes but really dull, wish washy and uninteresting. Come on! Let's call it for what it really is, what it has always been in Sydney and why the world including Asian countries is also drawn to celebrate the magnetic vibe of Chinese culture. It's Chinese New Year!! Let's party!

Lunar new year mean, date of new year has been chosen by Moon surface appreance. Some nights moon has left half. Some nights, it has right half. Some nights it has full moon. There are many sequences of changing moon surface. it is called a lunar calendar. It is the correct and legitimate name. It is not based on Solar caldander. Moon is representing lunar. It has nothing to do with nationality. Moon decides the fate of Chinese civilisation. Such as Yanzi river tide and Moon cake Festival. Chinese people needed to respect the moon. Moon does not need to represent the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese national who celebrate the same new year. Moon or Lunar has existed before the birth of Yellow emperor, who found the first kingdom of Chinese civilisation. Even before the Dinosaurs era.

I agree totally with you. To purposely omit the word 'Chinese' in Chinese New Year or Chinese Lunar New Year is to purposely disassociate the festival with the Chinese and its origins from China, this is blatant racism and misappropriation of the Chinese culture.
