This is just proof of how spiteful and vindictive some of these union bosses and members are when they lack any kind of consideration and decide to hold everyday Australians to ransom and spoil their enjoyment because they think it is acceptable as a means of getting their own way instead of having enough commonsense to try and negotiate with the government so it doesn’t impact on people who rely on these services. It’s the epitome of “thuggery “ and unions have a reputation for exactly that..I do not apologise for my comment either because my personal view of unions is they have a gang mentality and I have never been a supporter of that ethos through my entire working life.

Dont go out. Dont spend. Dont catch the trains. Then... Union workers arent required no more and should be made redundant. Problem solved. Better still. Build more metro, convert existing train lines to metro as much as possible, otherwise discard and rebuild a new merro.

Yeah, I notice more and more they seem to have problems with construction projects and various infrastructure like rail and all of them seem to be connected to the Unions. Lets put it this way- when they first built the Snowy Hydro Scheme they banned Unions from working on it. And it got built. If they'd had Union scabs working on it the project probly would have taken 3 times longer and cost twice as much.

Metro doesn't solve the problem. Unfortunately in the last agreement, they agreed to a driver on every (automatic, driverless) train. Every station has 24/7 staff too. Every driver has a key and a lot of the metro staff are now unionised, including the metro control room. The metro can't operate without train crew and stations must close if there's no station staff.

If its cancelled it'll be the biggest mistake the government's ever made. The commissioner isn't thinking about all the ramifications. Sydney's rep, all the money that'll be lost, businesses missing out, people around the world won't come in the future if this is all it takes to cancel them. It's a huge mistake. Can you imagine a nye countdown that leads to the bridge doing nothing?? what a joke

Look I know I don’t live in Sydney I live in Melbourne and I know I won’t be in Australia for news years and Christmas but celebration fireworks should not be canceled! Anything is a celebration should NEVER BE CANCELED because Its a celebration people to celebrate something it’s like should Christmas be cancelled no bc we r celebrating Jesus Bro they hate have new years fireworks bc they have to shut down the train lines everyone that travel on trains hate it when they say the track are gonna be closed for 3 weeks then 3 weeks later they say they will be closed for 1 month it’s not only Sydney who has issues with public transport by trains it’s Melbourne and I don’t know about NT WA QUEENLAND SA TAS AND ALL NSW but I’m sure they have the same problem too bc I know Melbourne/vic does so why are metro complaining we should be complaining about them bc they are the ones and it’s not only metro it’s the council as well
