@@gonzalezm244 honestly that's nearly impossible for people raised as Mormons. Its drilled into you from a very young age that god exists. So even if you leave the church you will still believe in God in some form. The social conditioning is just too strong on children. Even the very few that become atheists, still fear hell. Statistically basically everyone who leaves still believes in God in some form Make no mistake, this is by design, Mormons know that most effective way to convert people to their faith is to get them when they are young. Thats why Mormons often pressure adherants to get married and have children as fast as possible.

I was born into a Christian family and I have remained a Christian throughout my whole life so I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to turn away from something that you believed to be true your whole life and that was being pushed on you by your family. I do recommend also going to the Gospel Topics essays and reading from the official church website. In order to witness to them we gotta know their language. They use a lot of the same terms but mean different things be them. For example saved in biblical Christianity means get to the Father (John 14:6). But in LDS terms it means ressurected. Do to an LDS person everyone, including atheists are ‘saved’. This helps clarify some confusion when discuss grace and salvation as they will infuriatingly say they believe in salvation by grace and the ‘atonement’ but mean something completely different. To get to the Father in the LDS church you have to get a temple recommended, be sealed in the temple, tithe, follow the prophet, keep the commandments ect. So their salvation is works based. But because the terms are used differently THEY don’t understand what we mean. Also if they bring up James 14:26, hit them with James 2;10 which says for whoever keeps the whole law but breaks it at one point is guilty of all. Also LDS people (like many other cults) have a persecution complex and accuse everyone of not knowing what they really believe. So even if you do your research be humble and ask anyway because they are more receptive to that.

I get you. But I also get that we are in some ways a product of our environment. Our world view shapes everything. I think it’s believable to many LDS people (I’m Charistmatic, not LDS) because they grew up in it and or if they did not grow up LDS, they have good memories associated with it. It’s hard to separate the two ideas (the church is not true with the good memories associated with it). Many LDS haven’t been exposed to much outside their comfort zone and don’t usually question what they have been taught intensely, in my experience with talking to many of them.

What you described about was very much a cult like attribute. I did not say the LDS church is a cult, but has cult like attributes for anyone that wants to take my comment the wrong way. I would encourage you to read the Bible especially in the book of John chapter 8 about the women caught in adultery. John 8:32 you will know the Truth and the Truth will make you free. John 14:6 says the Truth is Jesus and He is the only way to the Father. No stupid temple endowments or marriage required. Keep searching for Truth and keep asking questions

@@isabellefrye2878 Hey! I am actually a teenager too. i am 14 years old almost 15 and I can definitely relate with you as well. At this point I have mentally left the church I have never publically announced this to anyone before actually. I feel pretty free and great saying that ngl. Either way though yeah I still physically am forced to go to church and its activities. I actually partially told my mom one time in an argument that I no longer wanted to be apart of it and as part of a person living in the south I think people say here that religion is really important and there is no choice you absolutely have to go so yeah I struggle to push through that every Sunday but I was just gonna say I don't know whether I am older or younger to you but whatever it is if your comfortable it would be cool if you're down to connect like on Instagram or something. I have been trying for like a few weeks to connect with some people around my age going through this that can relate but it is so hard cuz most are older which isn't bad though.

@@yolandabhappy3819 hey! And thats how I Exactly feel. My parent are super spiritual and very Mormon and I know what if one of my siblings left the church my parent would be very upset with us. But when I go to church every Sunday or to young women’s I feel like uh this again. It never changes it always the same people. I never really opened about this either the only person I told was my Cousin and we are very close. And my cousin sister fell out of the church. And a lot of Mormons I feel like are in this position where they don’t want to go to these activities to go to church every Sunday.

What’s the most sad is people are so sad and so lost and hurting and they don’t realize that Jesus took all that shame pain and guilt on the cross for them! If people could just know and understand and believe that they don’t have to be punished for their “sins” I think there wouldn’t be a single person stuck in that church. Jesus went to the cross for a purpose!!! So we could be free!! It’s as simple as that. That’s the only prophecy, testimony, preaching and teaching there needs to be! Thank you for being open about this, and most importantly about leaving a religion, and clarifying that you’re not leaving God. I think that’s the most powerful part Sydney. That this messed up religion didn’t taint your heart and steal you from knowing who Jesus really is!!! Love you!!!

I feel this Syd, I left the church at 18 and I've been judged by my family and my fiances family for leaving. They think I corrupted him for leaving the church as well, even though he was long inactive before me. I'm sickened by the judemental nature of the church. I rather be spiritual than religious. Religion is control and spirituality is true and you can actually live it in day to day life without committing your life to a church that tells you what you NEED to feel.
