John Partridge is a great actor! Especially as a gay man himself, he knew how to capture the emotion and perhaps fright of coming out.
@laminage6 жыл бұрын
That's so great. In The US so many Soap Actors had to be in The Closet. Terry Lester (Ex-Jack Abbott #1) The Young & The Restless who died of a Heart Attack due to his HIV Status. Thom Bierdz who played Phillip Chancellor III then Michael Corbett (Ex-David Kimble). There was also Chris Bernau who was the First Soap Actor to die of AIDS related illness in 1990 who played Alan Spaulding from 1977-1990. For Women it was twice as hard. There was Maureen Garrett who played Holly on Guiding Light on and off from 1976 to 2009 who came out about Two Years Ago and other Soap Actresses who keep it on the quiet.

This is the most terrible coming-out I've ever seen I hope nobody has to deal with this...If so I wish you all the best
@juliebaxter3564 Жыл бұрын
It was awful and the BBC shouldn't have done it this way. Imagine people wanting to come out may be put off by this scene. Genuine people.
@luharik-re7vgАй бұрын
@@juliebaxter3564this is a very late comment, but i disagree - seeing all these rosy coming out stories can absolutely give a false impression, and there are plenty of those visible, and rightly so. but it's not like that for everyone, especially for people from conservative cultural backgrounds. people need to be in the right frame of mind and position in life, because if you're a teen, things can go wrong and suddenly you're kicked out. i hope no one has to deal with this too, but sadly, some of us are not so lucky.

@Banzan Buddhist they were both brave. They're not in the same situation, or facing the same consequences regarding the total rejection of family and faith communities. Christian's courage, love, and strength gave Syed the courage to say those words, finally.

I’m sorry but Christian was pressuring syed so much throughout this even though he knew his relatives and friends would disapprove, he even told Zainab before syed was able too and spray painted it on the wall for Amira too he’s such a selfish man
@juliebaxter3564 Жыл бұрын
He was acting like this as he didn't want Syed to go down the wrong path and not admit who he truly was. He knew Syed was gay. Christian did the right thing. Imagine you're in a loveless marriage because of religious beliefs and who you are. What life would you have.

Its not because they're 'indian' (Pakistani), its because of their faith. Homosexuality is condemned in Islam and God is strongly against it. Therefore Muslims are strongly against homosexuality. That does not make Muslims 'mean' either as it says also in the bible that homosexuality is wrong. Just the majority of non religious Christians seem to except it now because the media look upon it as normal. Despite their faith telling them otherwise.
@juliebaxter3564 Жыл бұрын
Indian and Pakistan are entirely different countries. Homosexuality is not about religion. People are born this way. I feel your views are homophobic. It's been normal for years since and decrimilanised since 1967. You are barking up the wrong tree.

It says in the Qu'ran & Bible that homosexuality is wrong and strongly opposed to by God. So by following their faith it does not make them ignorant.

She knew her husband was gay and this was a trap and keep him with her. The fact she "was pregnant" was also a clear give away that she wasn't. If she truly loved him then let him be and start afresh.

@RezidentEvilOST I think you are stereotyping South Asian people yes SOME South Asians are homophobic and some are NOT. Just like some white people are anti gay and SOME are not. This is a wonderful storyline that explores the fact that in the South Asian community homosexuality is STILL a taboo. You cannot utilize Eurocentric values to discern other cultures.
