Best method for Island Expedition grind is to first knock out the 1k and 500 mount from vendor, while farming the currency you can get rng drops, then start buying the boxes once you have those two.

Just make sure the boxes you buy can drop the mounts you need. Some only drop from one specific box, but some can drop from almost any box.

got the both the 1k and 500 and only got 1 rng mount, then I opened a box and got two mounts in it, my luck was awful but box drop rates and really high

I have yet to get a mount drop from the solo mythic islands. I’ve bought both mounts and all the toys from the vendor it’s depressing. 😂

The ivory hawkstrider was A PAIN to farm in dragonflight. My pro tips would be to kill trade with a friend and reset the debuff by running into BRH (otherise need to wait 10 min per kill). There is a worldpvp zone close by that will turn this 10 min per token farm into about 2-3 min per token. Secondly. Use the rep tokens during DMF and if you are lucky enough to stack with the anniversary buff, that will save you considerable time

@@spindoggytheexplorer2915 when you kill someone using the ivory talon to get the rep token, it puts a seperate debuff on the person you kill preventing you from getting another token for 10 min. Probally orignally put in place to keep you from farming the same person over and over and actually have to participate in world pvp

The original grind for the Winterspring Saber mount. Three quests spread out across the Winterspring zone, and you had to do them over and over and over. 5-6 hours a day, for a week as I recall.

For anyone doing the falcosaur mounts, id suggest doing them all at the same time. And while you can only do 1 daily per char, you can use multiple alts to keep the chain moving. A lot of it will revolve around pet battles so you can double up since pets are shared

Same goes for leveling the followers in Nazjatar. Use three alts and do them all at the same time.

I’m not entirely sure that’s how it works though, because the criteria last I checked was the falcosaur pet has to start as the lead pet and not die during the pet battles in order for it to count, so you can’t exactly do more than one falcosaur for a single pet battle

@@madeofmeats yes you do have to swap out the falcosaur depending on what quest you are trying to do. I meant it more so once you find a winning line up for a particular quest, you swap out the falcosaur and then repeat the world quest on an alt, that way you are not re inventing the wheel. It only works for certain stages of the quest lines but there can be some efficiencies if you try to complete the 4 quest lines simultaneously. At least that is what my experience was when I got the 4 mounts.

The Flameward Hyppogryph mount from Cataclysm was an insane grind. I gave up on the grind six times over the past 13 years. I finally got it finished in August 2023, what a nightmare.

Possibly useful amendment here: several of the currencies related to the grinds in this video are now account wide with the new Warband system. This should make the grinds a bit easier! These are: Champion's Seal from Argent Tournament Seafarer's Dubloon from Island Expeditions Curious Coins for the Arcadian War Turtle Cyphers of the First Ones which are used to unlock the Protoform Synthesis system. Many of the materials are also now warbound!

I do the same, and only broke that rule once in Ulduar. Not because I wanted the mount. I mean, I didn't even know a mount had dropped. all I heard in vent was, "everyone roll" so I did. figured the sooner we got done with that the sooner I could hearth out and be done with the stupid raid. When I noticed it was the mount I would have given it to a guildie who I knew wanted that mount really badly. thing is 4 or so bosses earlier she had had such a witch I thought giving her the mount would be rewarding poor behavior so I kept it for myself.

Island Expeditions mounts are gonna make me develop a gambling addiction I swear. Recently I bought a box and got the Bloodgorged bat thing mount from it and then the immediate next island I ran I got the Chasm-leaper. With renewed invigoration, I ran enough islands to buy another chest and got nothing from any of it. I’m dangerously close to the “Maybe the next one will be it and I’m quitting right before I win big” mindset taking over my body and soul

You will get them. Island mounts are brutal though. I had two days of being lucky and getting non stop mounts and 12 other days of nothing at all. But - you will get achievements and gear to sell as well. Island expedition transmogs and gear can sell for a LOT. Don't vendor them.

I collect mounts, but only the ones that I want. I skip the ones I find ugly. Island expeditions and Genesis modes were the most mind-numbing mount grinds in my opinion. Glad that's behind me.

I did the Argent Tournament stuff back in the day and at the time didn't seem too terrible at all compared to some of the things that have been brought in since. I have recently concluded that the game has gotten too big with too much to do. During Wrath - which I started playing in the middle of the expansion - I was able to complete every quest, every exploration achievement, do every dungeon, and get all but a few reputations to exalted. During Cata, same again, but also got to do a little bit of raiding and a lot of PvP. Since then, I've been lucky to finish all the quests for one zone in each expansion before the next expansion is out. Forget running all the dungeons, the raids, the rep grinds, and forget trying to get into PvP or the other extra things. Right now, I've just resorted to doing a few brief daily things on select toons to slow grind out a few things I've been meaning to complete for a long time and I no longer care if I get to do PvP or dungeons or raids, it's all just too much to try to catch up on and get done.

@@ziimbrotmg3981 If I was a new player starting now, I'd experiment with a bit of everything to start with, find what I enjoyed the most, then specialise in that. Be it dungeon and raid running; PvP in all its forms; getting into the storylines with questing and exploration; mat farming to sell at the Auction House for tons of gold; pet collecting and battling; or RPing on a roleplaying realm; they'll all level your character up and there's definitely something for everyone, but I don't think someone can do everything anymore, certainly not to any point that can be called a conclusion.

206 reps to exalted and 939 mounts according to data for Azeroth here. I wish they would have released a 600 or 700 mount meta cheeve. Also I have 866 toys and every pet in the game to level 25 rare quality except for some early blizzcon murlocs. Nice list keep them coming. I literally have been playing for 18 years and JUST got the white hawkstrider from Kael'thas sunstrider from Magisters terrace. in 2024.... these rng things are stupid and very frustrating. I run most old raids and dungeons weekly still trying to get mounts and pets to drop for me. i fear some just never will, and that makes me sad.

For a truly degenerate experience, start a 2nd (and 3rd, 4th, etc) account using Recruit-A-Friend and kill your new alts while under the effect of Ivory Talon (for Aviana's Vengeance) and the Censer of Eternal Agony (or Fire Watcher's Oath) to collect Ordos' bloody coins while you grind rep. The bloody coins can be used to buy the Ashhide Mushan Beast mount.

Shadowlands also had a stupidly annoying achievement mount. The one from breaking the chains. Basically you had to do the usual rep & story, but also kill every rare in maw. The most annoying being the fallen charger with a 7h respawn time & when it does spawn you have to kill it before it completes its route or it despawns. You also have to kill each of the tormentors. 1-2 of them spawns every 2 hours so if u rly commit to this you might be able to complete it in a day (20is hours? I donno) Needless to say i gave up on this grind & went with the much easier recolor of the mount. The hardest bit in this one is waiting for a very specific assault to be up with the correct quest to be offered & getting lucky with getting a quest item to drop. Luckily the quest is shareable so you can beg for the quest in the chat. But seriously you'll be mostly just waiting for the quest to be up for months on end.

That was an easy grind. Only took a few minutes a day for about a month. Especially since you were doing the Alliance side. Trying to do it as Horde is insane. And you get both mounts anyway.

One good thing about doing the urgent tournament though. Is that if you don't have your racial faction rep, it's easy to do both with the argent crusade. At least you don't have to turn in all those stupid bits of cloth anymore. And you only need to do it on one character now instead of each character you want those for.

Timereaver would've been high on the list, if they didn't make it so much easier to gain recently thru both Rise mythic dungeon item, as well as TW raid quests. Prior to these, think it had like 1/4000 dropchance from just spamming TWs, something I thought was just beyond bothering with, and I'm at 850+ mounts so I don't get easily pushed back.

@@Syiler I have done hundreds of islands when they were current and hundreds more since then. I only had one mount drop for me that way. I got the rest from the boxes and I have been pretty lucky. Each one took only 1-3 tries. Except for Squawks. It took me over two dozen boxes to finally get that damn parrot. And I still need about 900 doubloons to but the left over toys and pets from the vendor.

The BfA grind/rng mounts are certainly the worst out of them all. I loath IE's.... when it was current it was a rough go, and now it's the most boring thing to do in the game. I would love to see Blizz up the dabloons drop amounts from a min of 2 (ick) to a min of 12, and go up to 40-ish that would increase desire to do them for the caches. They also need to drastically increase the mount drop chances. I understand that BfA introduced some experimental ideas, but to have thought that the mount obtaining process was "good enough" for this feature is really frustrating.

Degenerate is a polite way of putting it. The fact that you couldn't finish most of this when the content was current just shows how inept blizz really is at this. I did the Argent Tourney. I finished it in MoP. I hope is sinks into Azjol Nerub. I did the island runs. Took nearly two expansions to get all the mounts and pets and gear. Blizz can go to hell. I did Mechadone. Went back and finished it a couple months ago in Dragonflight I'm mechadone with that shit. I did Nazjatar. Another one I finished in Dragonflight. It was even worse than Mechadone. I still don't have all the mounts from the protoform synthesis because the plans are gated behind the raid and I don't have all the pets because one plan is in the raid and the other is from putting down a feast that I have been doing for months. I have 100 exalted reps. Yet no one on Azeroth knows who I am every time a new expansion starts and I have to grind rep for all the same people I have already gotten rep for.

Theres 2 mounts on this list that I can sell that makes it 100000x easier, 1 being Island Expedition Mounts, you AFK while I run the islands, and 2, Ivory Hawkstrider, takes 20m to do. Whereas, if you were to do these Solo, you would spend hours and hours trying to get it
