This is a series of guides for Long War 2 (Long war of the chosen). I designed the guides to provide the maximum amount of information in an easy to digest way, going over the core concepts of Long War mechanics, strategical layer, haven management, infiltration, base management, class guides for each of the classes as well as an equipment overview and strategies for team compositions.
If you like the guides, feel free to subscribe and leave a positive comment down below.

Cool! So far the Technician has been underperforming for me, this gives a nice new perspective on it. I've been mainly going for either full-on rocket or full-on flamethrower so far, and spent most of my time just shooting with them because the range always just fell short. I think I'll give this hybrid build a try. Thanks, as always!

You are welcome, let us know how it goes. The class seems strange at the start, but I can assure you that they are actually viable.

You should reconsider the Roust ability. It is like your regular flame thrower ability but instead of damage you get extra range in a narrower cone. It also burns the all targets within which is mainly the point. The fact that it moves the target I think is just a bonus on top of the extra range. You take incinerator but this ability is almost just like incinerator except you get it much earlier. I do agree that Techs do not get enough charges and it sucks to hear about the capping of damage.

love these videos. I do wish you covered weapon choices (smg vs shotgun vs rifle etc) and weapon upgrades for each class, as well as PCS choices. I get that it's mission dependent for the weapons, but would be helpful to hear your thoughts about weapons before going to gear up.

@@SykenPlays I wonder if you have an update on this because I just wanted to make sure I am using the right extra items like advanced suppressor or certain PSI functions on the right soldiers and would love to get your thoughts on it. When you make a squad in your campaigns you typically skip over that which is understandable. A separate video for a basic guide on your loadouts for your troops would be helpful. Either way I know you are busy and like your videos a lot.

I really enjoy this series and look forward to more. I hope this doesn't sound like criticism as I think you do an excellent job explaining your choices of builds, but rather a counter point that others can use. I used to believe that the Rocketeer would not be that great because you only get 1 rocket. That really changes mid campaign when you should be getting to Staff Sergeant, E.X.O. Suits, and Mag Weapons. Rockets that can crit and do full damage to everything will "nearly" delete whole pods and now that you have 2 rockets, that means that one soldier can take out half of the map on a lot of infiltration missions. Then when you consider the "Bunker Buster" as the 3rd rocket and how strong it is just on AOE alone, it is an essential soldier on a lot of missions such as HQ assaults and Tower missions. On my high mobility and lower aim soldiers, I still go with a more flamer orientated builds. I think they are pretty good too and I can think of one that had Close Combat Specialist who I could equip with a shotgun and still have 15 mobility. Close Combat Specialist seems to come up frequently on Technicals in the 2.31 build. It is a pretty good reason to build a tanky technical and give them a a shotgun and send them forward.

Thanks for the input, very valuable. I can certainly see how multi-rocket builds are also filling the same niche as a grenadier who focuses on grenades and cover removal.

I personally play a dedicated flamer Technical with a couple of deviations to round out their abilities. The build looks like this: SQ: Heavy Weapons LCPL: Fire in the Hole CPL: Napalm-X SGT: Burnout SSGT: Formidable TSGT: Incinerator GSGT: Quickburn MSGT: Bunker Buster Fire in the Hole is necessary if you ever want to fire a rocket, the accuracy without it is too unreliable in my opinion. Bunker Buster is an extra rocket that deals enough environmental damage that any cover that can be destroyed will be destroyed by it. There is an argument to be made for Phosphorus with Napalm-X because it works on fire immune enemies such as Purifiers that can now be panicked, but I never really struggled with Purifiers before it got buffed to that and Formidable is an always on buff to survivability. The rest are all fire perks. I think you're really sleeping on Napalm-X. The flamethrower is already a useful control tool because burning enemies will waste their turns running around but you're not guaranteed to get the burn, I believe the base chance is 60% though I could be wrong. Napalm-X gives you another roll to inflict a condition that takes an enemy out of the fight, making it far more reliable. Incinerator and Quickburn are both absolutely fantastic perks as well. Incinerator lets you reliably catch entire pods of enemies in the AoE from concealment, you'd be surprised how many times you can catch two or three but not everyone. Quickburn completely changes the way the flamer Technical plays after concealment is broken; with Quickburn you can run out into the open, flame a dude to take him out of the fight then run back to safety. Burnout and Shredder both have arguments to be made for them, for me Burnout rewards me for doing what I want to be doing anyway and makes low cover that much safer.

What bothers me about this class aren't its mechanics but....that someone thought at Xcom in Long War that it's a good idea to put explosives at the flamethrower. It begs for a soldier ending up blowing themselves up.

I will do all the WOTC classes (although they are not that different from the normal WOTC class guides, but I can certainly give an update). The Psi-Ops guide as well as the equipement guide is in production. Unfortunately real life is very busy at the moment.
