My ‘19 CTS 2.0T has about 32k miles and still rides on butter but I always enjoy your videos Danial. I learn something new and always know where to go for the 4-1-1. Keep up the great work!

My left endlink broke while my struts and struts mounts were being replaced. The shop I went to replaced it with one they had in their shop, do you think the oem one would fix the clunk I have?
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 2 жыл бұрын
Not if they replaced it with a correct length one. But do you know?

have you ever replaced the seatbelt height adjuster on the Cadillac CTS?

Have not. Once you take that c pillar off though it never seems to go back on right.

@@JetFuelOnly thought I’d ask since I seen you took the piece that covers it off but thank you for the information it will definitely help me from getting nervous from it not sitting back like it originally did😂

Is there any way to narrow down front end noises? I had a clunk that was fixed by doing the front forward LCAs as one had a leaking bushing. I still have a rattling noise when driving on uneven roads. I cant find anything thats loose or has too much play. Any ideas before I just unleash the parts cannon?

Sorry just saw this for some reason. Try opening the door and using it as a lever to rock the car and maybe a second person to help find movement or noise. Clunks could just be the upper strut mounts. They only last 70k miles usually

Im changing out my struts everything lines up correct but my sway bar wont line up I checked and rechecked to make sure the struts are the correct ones, however I only lifted one side of the car, do I need to raise both sides, I really need help
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 10 ай бұрын
Both sides have to be lifted. That’s how the sway bar works, it pulls up and down on the opposite side to try to keep the car level. Sway bars should also be tightened while fully unloaded (evenly) or fully loaded on the ground (difficult)

Just an FYI - on the ATS-V (at least on my 2016 coupe), the links are not plastic but metal. When trying to diagnose a suspension issue on mine, I replaced the links (which were metal) with GM OEM…and they too were metal, not plastic.
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. On the parts list they show plastic ones and there’s a right hand metal one. However none of these show which ATS they apply to. Thanks for the info!
@amnlupiano

The key is the suspension code. FE4 is only found on the ATS-V chassis. The metal links are used on the FE4 suspension.

Probably as the ATS V is even more track oriented.

When I ride over sewer covers or baby potholes it feels like I bent the rim. The feeling of impact is insane to the point I know if I was to hit a deep pothole 3", it's all over. Has this been your experience with your CTS and if so how'd you remedy it? 🤔
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
That sounds pretty bad and not normal. Are you on stock 18” wheels? When is the last time suspension components have been changed?
@anonymoususerxoxo
@anonymoususerxoxo Жыл бұрын
@@JetFuelOnly Yes I'm on stock. Never had my suspension checked. The springs and shocks look fine but it could be something else. I heard others say tires make a difference but I'm using Goodyear so 🤷🏽‍♂️... I just wanted to see how your experience been. I thought maybe it was because it's lower in the front too.
@JetFuelOnly

I would say bad strut mounts might be contributing. Any knocking noises? Yes run flat tires can be a harsh ride but most tires aren’t the issue
@anonymoususerxoxo
@anonymoususerxoxo Жыл бұрын
@@JetFuelOnly No unusual knocking. I'm going to check my tires for run flat indication but I doubt they are. Strut mounts are a good guess or maybe the absorber itself has gone bad and I just don't know. This is all speculation but I appreciate your help anyway. I'll dig deeper into it. Did you get those actuators swapped out for a fair price?

So I have a left front clunk, ONLY when wheel is turned hard over to the right and going over a small bump or tire goes down into a dip. I do not have a clunk at all when driving on the freeway or back roads. Only at the slow speed with wheel turned going over a bump. Weird. Dealers have had my car 3 times, no one can seem to figure it out. The last dealer mentioned that this was caused by this part, but for some damn reason, did not replace it . I was pissed and I asked why they didn't . Anyways, I'm going to order both left and right front links from rock auto and do them myself and see what happens.

@@Cembruh only reason I did was because of the extended warranty lol. I'm going to replace both links and if the problem goes away I'm going after the dealers for every $100 deductible I paid.

The big question is did replacing these solve the clunking noise in your front suspension?
@JetFuelOnly
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
I didn’t really solve anything for me. My left side continues to have a slightly harder clunk from hitting reflectors compared to if I use the right wheels. I think the majority of Clonts come from the upper strut, bearing and mount but my car has made the same clunk or used. It’s very minor and no one probably would notice but me.

I have a Caddy ATS. The stock plastic ones suck.(would definately recommend replacing these with aftermarket ones) I bought Moog endlinks, and they are metal and feel much stronger. Moog are easy to put on, and they also have a grease fitting.
