Absolute machine of a guitarist. My favourite metal band and guitarist by miles. This song is immense, reminds me of classic sylosis with a touch of gojira thrown in.

Guys, what if, just what if, it's not Gojira influenced.
@asajones51504 жыл бұрын
Josh has said before that Gojira are a big influence on him, both in terms of songwriting and in his vocal delivery (I'm fairly certain that's where his pitching comes from when he does his harsh vocals). So whilst it may be coincidence, I don't believe it is. During the breakdown of Hereafter by Architects, there's a pickslide that's very much Gojira in style. Josh also wrote all the riffs to that song. He's used the same technique during quite a few of his previous videos too, so I think it's fair to say that the Gojira comments are justified. I think it's great as he's using the influences to further the Sylosis sound and making it his own.

No bad but Josh use to be more technic with better riffs and sweep solo, i learn to tighten my sweep with the song Empyreal... He is one of the best guitarist in the world so to be honest im kinda disappointed !! Maybe he became soft because he did play with Architects for too long.
@relentlessconsumption4 жыл бұрын
That alternate picking run at 2:52 isn't enough for you? How about the phrasing? I think its just as impressive as 5 string arpeggios. He's evolving as a guitar player and musician. Don't worry, I'm sure there will be sweeping sections on the new album. Think about it, every other album has had it. He won't disappoint. And fyi his playing has so much more to offer besides sweep picking.
