Mental illness like anxiety and depression often ironically hit hardest in people who have had - on ther surface - really good lives. You can find people who have been through the worst shit - battled things on the outside - and persevered through with positivity on the inside. And on the flipside people who have lead smooth lives on the outside but faced demons on the inside due to constant negative and anxiety ridden thought patterns. It's a battle we win no awards or medals for surviving through, but kick-arse metal is one of the most awesome and brightest lights to shine from the end of that dark tunnel.

Great video. Can't wait for the Islington gig next week :-) Regarding how to write dark lyrics, it's absolutely the case that you don't necessarily need to be in a dark place to do it. Just like Steven King doesn't need to be feeling murderous to write grisly horror stories, it's all about the art and using one's creativity to project a concept. Great to see the lads in a happy place. Fucking rifflords!

I can relate. On the surface my life is perfect to others. But my anxiety has like you said chipped away at me slowly. Getting help now but before I lived in this dark place inside. I never thought something like this would happen to me and made fun of others calling people who needed help weak. But in reality I was suffering more or less and not aware of the symptoms. If anyone reads this chronic anxiety is a problem if you are always anxious get help or it will eat you alive.

@13guitard00d2 жыл бұрын
Late reply, but here it is. Sylosis is his baby and he felt like they didn't make it as a band, plus he has been unhappy with the self-imposed restrictions on the band' sound (E standard tuning, no breakdowns, etc.) because they were established as "that heavy band in E standard tuning" at the time. Also, he felt tired of trying to cram all his diverse influences in a single band, and now he feels comfortable because he plays in two bands that play completely different subgenres of metal.
